susquvalleywgal 521 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I think it would be a great idea if we could start this thread with how local markets are handling this. I personally believe that there is not a member in this forum who is not DTV ready. We had over 2 years to prepare for this. And because of the in-activity of lazy people, we will have to delay the DTV switch. So, with that mentioned and said, how is your local market handing this? Will they wait til June now, or will they stick with February? I will start this off ... Brian Roche at News 8 @ 5:30 announced that EVERY television station in market #41 will wait til June. Even WGAL. How sad. -- matt
A3N 1002 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 All but two of San Diego TV stations will fully go digital on Feb. 17th. The only exceptions being XETV-6(CW) and KPBS(PBS).
Ntropolis 599 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Here, I know WHRO is going digital on the 17th... I think WAVY is too, tonight during the news they had a graphic up for a few bumpers about the DTV switch stating "February 17th" as the date. Not sure about the others.

In essence, to hell with gov't, we're doing it our way. I don't know about LA's stations though.
PelicanGuy 117 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 In New Orleans: * WVUE went all digital in December and WLAE went all digital last week. * WGNO is sticking to going all digital on 2/17 while WWL and WYES will wait until June. * It is unknown when WDSU, WPXL and WHNO will make the switch. In Baton Rouge: * WAFB has filed paperwork with the FCC to go ahead and make the switch 2/17. * WBRZ, WVLA and WGMB are all ready to go. No word on if they will make the switch this month.

ib-td 1 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 WWSB has already switched (according to their promos). other comments at: http://www.packofseven.tv/tvnt/showthread.php?p=50351#post50351 another problem is some digital signals may not be as strong as the analog. Friends in the UP sent this link. Scroll down past the DTV countdown (now outdated) and watch the 3 pt segments. http://www.uppermichiganssource.com/community/DTV.aspx wonder if this could happen somewhere else - mountainous area, etc.??
tw-804 194 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 In June, WWBT (NBC) and WUPV (CW) will stop broadcasting in analog. No word from WTVR, WRIC and others. Meanwhile, the Charlottesville NewsPlex is going digital on February 17th.
Geoffrey 873 Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Kansas City stations seem to be switching on time... KCTV, KMBC, KSHB and KMCI. KCWE (CW) made the switch in December. http://www.kansascity.com/entertainment/columnists/aaron_barnhart/story/1020394.html

WNYT expects to continue broadcasting its analog signal until June 12. WRGB still thinks there is only 11 more days till dtv, according to their site.

first on fox 18 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 WPXI will also wait. WPGH and WPMY might shut it down on 2/17 (although thought not 100% sure yet)
PTVNews 196 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 In Portland almost all the stations announced they wouldn't delay but days later one changed their minds and the rest followed. So all now are waiting until June.
SFTV 532 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 All but two of San Diego TV stations will fully go digital on Feb. 17th. The only exceptions being XETV-6(CW) and KPBS(PBS). KNSD might be pending. They started running new O&O promos "Get the Picture" about the June switch now. KFMB and KSWB for sure are switching in February. They've been showing announcements that are almost similar. XETV will be switching by 2010? Or sumthin like that, I saw it on the HDTV San Diego Forum...since their antennas and transmitters are in Tijuana. The rules are different across the border. Still no word from: - KBNT (Univision) - XHAS (Telemundo) - XDTV (MY Network TV)

Ntropolis 599 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 According to this article from the Virginian-Pilot, WHRO is the only station here that has confirmed they are switching on 2/17. WGNT is waiting till June, the rest are undecided except for WSKY, which is already digital-only.
