qwertnyc 1 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Sue Simmons did the sports report tonight on News 4 New York at 6. Chuck said it was her lifelong dream to anchor the sports and tonight she was getting her wishes. I am not sure where Len Berman was because there was no mention of him at all.
rtmclaug 70 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Does anybody have footage of this? I really want to see it!
Bucc 4 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 unfortunatly their website sucks, and has no video?????????? I dont get that. So dont look there
eastcoasttvnews 1 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 If Sue Simmons does sports, and nobody is there to see it, did it really happen?
Geoffrey 873 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Are they taking a page from CBS 2 in having anchors read the sports?
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 unfortunatly their website sucks, and has no video?????????? I dont get that. So dont look there Expect to see that pop up on YouTube sooner than later.
NYNews 54 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 If Sue Simmons does sports, and nobody is there to see it, did it really happen? It did happen. Although, the one at 11pm was IMO, a bit rushed.
IceManNYR 240 Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 My guess is Friday's Len has off and Bruce is in Tampa for Spring Training?
former newsboy 52 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 If Sue Simmons does sports, and nobody is there to see it, did it really happen? ha! that was pretty good, thanks for the laugh P.S. I miss Sue's perm. LOL
Vlad 334 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Well Steve Bartelstein did the sports segment during the night of the Grammy Awards on WCBS (Chris Wragge and Kristine Johnson were anchoring), if I recall correctly, Bartelstein used to do sports prior to getting the anchor gig at WABC. But Sue Simmons doing it, now that is something to see!, lol. So its not uncommon to see anchors doing sports segments.
chuck95 0 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 In other words, WNBC didn't want to pay a substitute anchor?
l14dap 1 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hasn't David Ushery filled in for sports in the past?
NewsJunkie247 1 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 Hasn't David Ushery filled in for sports in the past? Yes, he has done sports a few times over the years. Most recently around the holidays.
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 What about Len Berman? Is he still there?
NewsMan 0 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 What about Len Berman? Is he still there? Yes
NewsJunkie247 1 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Sue Simmons did sports again tonight on the 6PM news. Bruce Beck was on-assignment at Citi Field, however, bad weather brought down their signal, so Sue filled in.
IceManNYR 240 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Wonder if she's doing movie reviews next as that position is now open?
TrfRptr 3 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 It just dawned on me, since WNBC is cutting left and right and looking cheaper and cheaper. And the crack about Sue doing movie reviews got me thinking... Why doesn't WNBC try and 5pm WEBCAST? Market it to iPhone, PDA, Blackberry (etc) users too. Think, they say the audience habits are changing to later hours because they are traveling home at 5PM. Well, why not give them a mobile option via a newscast. It'd be first in the market, and since they are so focused on the web now, it only makes sense.

NewsJunkie247 1 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Have they filled the lead sports anchor position yet? I don't think they have made a formal announcement, however, Bruce Beck does sports during the week and Mike Ratte from WVIT usually fills the weekend duties.
