PelicanGuy 117 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Bottom-dweller WGNO has launches new graphics...and rebranded itself in the process, complete with new music. Goodbye ABC 26, they are branding themselves as simply "WGNO". The "N" in the logo has the fleur-de-lis on top of the letter. The graphics are primarily purple, gold and black. They also have new mic flags. They also are tailoring their newscasts toward the ladies. Go to the video page to check them out. http://www.abc26.com/videobeta/2ea7f0cb-9fa5-446e-8677-c1c5a4e87eee/News/In-Houma-encouraging-new-stats-on-residential-and-auto-burglaries-
Samantha 2902 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Times!? Times!? I could have done better, 'GNO. P.S.: female-focused newscasts will flop.
qunewsguy 378 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Tribune Midwest is behind the rebrand. You can find videos on Vimeo if you look around... not on my regular computer so can't post a link.
cacLA8383 1 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Now I see why they continue to be dead last in our market.
ColumbusNewsFan 217 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 That music sounds like, "Hey ladies, Like some neeeews!":rofl!: The graphics aren't that bad they are actually pretty good. It's that music:lol: that are passing for news music.
Oliverolang 41 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Ugh! This is the best they could come up with!
abric 181 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I could've made better graphics than that. Bad. Bad. BAD!
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 How many people want the ABC 26 News title back?
newsfanatic 4 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I don't mind the graphics, but that music has GOT TO GO
CSNewsGuy 1 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I don't know enough about the Nola market to know if this format makes sense or not, but I do like the change from "abc 26" to "WGNO."
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Judging by the colors, WGNO is really going after Saints and LSU fans.
CSNewsGuy 1 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I was watching some of the other stuff on that Vimeo channel. The "God Bless Louisiana" campaign is interesting on many levels.
eyewitness_news 5 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 The change of WGNO's graphics and logo is a perfect example of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" rule.
alaskanews 122 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 The change of WGNO's graphics and logo is a perfect example of the "if it ain't broke' date=' don't fix it" rule.[/quote'] Uhhhhh I'm pretty sure WGNO qualifies as broke....
TennTV1983 807 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Uhhhhh I'm pretty sure WGNO qualifies as broke.... Especially when your competing against the likes of WWL, WVUE, and WDSU for an audience. How are ratings in that market, BTW?
PelicanGuy 117 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 I was watching some of the other stuff on that Vimeo channel. The "God Bless Louisiana" campaign is interesting on many levels. They've been running that campaign since last year's oil spill.
PelicanGuy 117 Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Especially when your competing against the likes of WWL, WVUE, and WDSU for an audience. How are ratings in that market, BTW? There's no change. WWL blows everyone away while WVUE is second and WDSU is third with a sizable drop-off. WGNO's highest rating was a "3" share on its 10 pm show during November sweeps. I will be eagerly awaiting February's results to see how well WVUE's 10 pm show does.
ABC5EyewitnessNewsCenter 0 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 WGNO needs to go back to the ABC 26 branding & get better graphics & music. Sadly I've heard rumors that Stephen Arnold is behind the station's new music, & we all know they've done much better than that.
