10Viewer 338 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 KGTV 1979 newscast with Jack White. Also includes part of World News Weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBsfShPeTg0
Eat News 4745 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 That's pretty bad ass. Margret Radford had 2 pkgs in that cast. Most people don't know that Jack White was the Technical Advisor for the movie Anchorman. White had Co-Anchored with Harold Greene AKA "Ron Burgundy". The OTS's were all on 35mm slides. And Ocean Ave WAS closed to cars for good, it's now part of the Pacific/Mission Beach Boardwalk.
KnoxvilleTVFan 286 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 As I was checking out YouTube on my iPhone, I came across something rare. From 1986, here are the first few moments of a WKYT 5:30pm newscast. Enjoy this video, because it includes a great WKYT open used during that era.
Eat News 4745 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Anyone have a 1977-1980 KCST-39 "Newscenter" 39 San Diego? You guys seem to know where this stuff is. Thanks
CircleSeven 1960 Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 This is repost, but it's worth mentioning that tomorrow will be the 20th anniversary of the deadly Heat Wave of 1995, at which on July 13, the air temperature reached at 104° at O'Hare and 106° at Midway. 739 people parished from this heat. From that dreaded day, here's the 10pm open from Channel 2, and a follow-up report from July 21. Videos Courtesy of GillSB8109 from YT.
10Viewer 338 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 PBS (!) affiliate WEDU in Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL, used a Klein & promotional campaign: 3 For All circa 1983:
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Someone ID'd it to the NMSA as Finish Line by Network Music. WTKR used it on promos in 1991... Added the info to that video. Thanks. NewsActive3's been on a tear with rare newscast uploads of late; including... The first newscast of the ill-fated Harry Reasoner/Barbara Walters team on the ABC Evening News (10-4-76): The first edition of ABC World News Tonight (7-10-78): July 31, 1968 CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite (from Miami; no doubt in preparation for the Republican National Convention the following week): And from the local side, the December 20, 1981 edition of WPVI's Action News at 11:00:
eyewitness_news 5 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 PBS (!) affiliate WEDU in Tampa/St. Petersburg, FL, used a Klein & promotional campaign: 3 For All circa 1983: Whaaaaaat!???! No way! WKYC in Cleveland also used the "3 for All" campaign with the similar music.
10Viewer 338 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Whaaaaaat!???! No way! WKYC in Cleveland also used the "3 for All" campaign with the similar music. Yeah, without seeing Julia Child and the Playhouse Theatre clips, most probably would not have known this is a PBS station.
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 Whaaaaaat!???! No way! WKYC in Cleveland also used the "3 for All" campaign with the similar music. KYW and WKYC used the "3 for All" and KCBS (KNXT) used "Here's 2 LA" in the mid or late 70s.
10Viewer 338 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 KARE 1993 11 p.m. I am not a huge fan of the "Newsmark" package, but the closing cut is fantastic and then the Gannett deathstar:
sfomspphl 498 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 KARE 1993 11 p.m. I am not a huge fan of the "Newsmark" package, but the closing cut is fantastic and then the Gannett deathstar: Funny they never name the fill in weather anchor. Here's KVOA in 1996, one of the later uses of the '84 Gari update to Cool Hand Luke, and you see a very young Savannah Guthrie
WWUpdate 1292 Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Among NewsActive3's uploads is WMAQ's first newscast from the NBC Tower back in 1989. (A tour of the new facilities begins at the 7-minute mark.)
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted July 16, 2015 Posted July 16, 2015 Sorry folks but the YT uploader known as PrincessAriel2014 closed its YT account today. He's the guy posted vintage news opens from the internet archive.
Samantha 2898 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 KELO-Land News in the late 80s, weather segment. Get a load of that set...and that logo! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXCby416Yj0
WFTV Channel 9 80 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Sorry folks but the YT uploader known as PrincessAriel2014 closed its YT account today. He's the guy posted vintage news opens from the internet archive. It appears he's back on YouTube as "SkittlesMan" judging by the WPEC and WPTV 1986 stuff that's once again uploaded.
Ntropolis 598 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 Late rebroadcast of WAVY 11pm Saturday night news from October 1987: Includes a version of the "You're Covered" promo and the station signoff at the conclusion of the rebroadcast. Also, what was up with the abundance of fuel company ads in the late 80s?
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 WAVY News 10 at 11PM Into (11/9/1989) - One month before Diana Morgan left to join WCIX (WFOR).
WFTV Channel 9 80 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 WTOG 44 & You Promo Campaign (1985): I've been waiting for someone to upload this!
T.L. Hughes 903 Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 About Skittlesman, I believe he's done this before. I think that would be his third channel, because I recall he previously used a username similar to that of his previous account about a year ago.
ToriElectra 292 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Found these clips from WTIC (pre One and Only) and WTNH (pre "NewsChannel8") circa 96 about the launch of the illfated AlphaStar DTH satellite service: Also, does anybody have any good copies of the circa 2003 WTIC open, with the fast-paced cut of One and Only and the stopwatch graphics?
WWUpdate 1292 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 From France, a historical compilation of TF1's news opens from the psychedelic '70s onwards: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGevbdpELbg

TheNewsFan 1 Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 That man is Yves Mourousi, he anchored the 1pm news on TF1 for 13 years (1975-1988)
