TexasTVNews 1378 Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Godspeed Doug Paul. The voice of WGN, Tribune, and various stations including KHOU. 1
LorenKarr 18 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 KCCI - Be a Part Of It All! Man, you're fast. I've got a couple of topicals from WHO from around the same time that I'll be uploading at some point, too. 1
Samantha 2902 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 What's the music from this KTSM close in 1984?
Samantha 2902 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 The close at the end of this WIBW clip is the same theme as what KNDU and KNDO used in the mid-80s:
hmaxhanson 650 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 It's Conneticuit News 30 from WVIT in 1997: And a bonus, ever heard Gari sing a jingle for a PBS station? Now you have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=CV78i_BHcwc;m=16;s=19 2
Info Junkie 1286 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhbIlMrNH9g Some Wichita news clips from 1994! No opens, but the rarity of these eras for KAKE and KSNW is worth watching. The very end of this clip is interesting too - KSNW still has its TvbD era logo but apparently has begun using “Newswire” around that time. 1

Samantha 2902 Posted January 8, 2018 Posted January 8, 2018 Nice to hear additional cuts of the KAKE 1993 theme... Speaking of mid-90s KAKE...
Samantha 2902 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 A little Alabama...WAAY 31 Eyewitness News Morning Update from October 12, 1987:
Info Junkie 1286 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 Nice to hear additional cuts of the KAKE 1993 theme... Speaking of mid-90s KAKE... KAKE and Chronicle’s other two Stations WOWT and KRON were all known to use 2D graphics that were way ahead of their time for the station images. KRON in the mid 90s eventually went with a TVbD package that still looks good today. Still wish we had more of KAKE from the 90s, will be bumping The Wish List thread for stuff from Wichita... 2
onthesea 292 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 From Portugal: RTP2 mid-evening news opener and top story from Sunday, July 23, 2000. The station's branding seen at the beginning was designed by Novocom. 1
WWUpdate 1292 Posted January 9, 2018 Posted January 9, 2018 The 1972/73 News and Documentary Emmy Awards (in their entirety): 2
TheOneManHerd 555 Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 It's Conneticuit News 30 from WVIT in 1997: Very similar to WTOG's graphics from the same era. WTOG was WVIT's sister station for that brief period between the WNYT/WHEC trade to Hubbard and WVIT's sale to NBC. 3
Info Junkie 1286 Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 A KMTV bumper for Divorce Court at the end — who is the VO??? He’s done other stations out in the Midwest, mainly WCMH, WTHR, and even rival KETV. Been trying to find out who he is for years. 1
ProduceGuy 31 Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Nice to hear additional cuts of the KAKE 1993 theme... Speaking of mid-90s KAKE... That time and temp bug reminds me of the one KTLA used during the same era.
Samantha 2902 Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 A few years later, in 1998, KAKE attempted the network branding of "ABC Kansas" and deemphasized its channel number...here are some promos from that era. News remained "KAKE News". 4

News remained "KAKE News". And before that, the KAKE stations tried a KSN/KBS style name, KTN, or the Kansas TV Network. 2
