KnoxvilleTVFan 286 Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 (edited) What you are about to see is a video containing reports done by Joe Collum who reported on the county commission in Tampa. Throughout the video, you can see some WTVT opens starting with an 11pm news open at the beginning, a Pulse 13 First News open at 8:06 and a 6pm news open at 12:34. And we take you back to the mid 1980s where WYMT in Hazard, KY used this news theme until the mid 1990s. Edited August 13, 2020 by KnoxvilleTVFan 3 1

Those WTVT opens have resemblances to KETV’s 1983 graphics package: Definitely the same company. Also at the end of the first open you can see that WFTS is being broadcast on the first monitor behind Terry Casey (their “28” logo intact). Edited August 13, 2020 by Info Junkie 2

With the slogan in the image campaign promo at 3:44, it probably is safe to say the news music package known at WTVT 1983 Theme should probably be titled “Where News Comes First”. Who knows they probably had been using it since 1982 just like WFLA’s “Spirit of Tampa Bay” theme was discovered as starting that year too. 2
Samantha 2905 Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 (edited) @jerseyfla Yup, and it's a confirmed custom (though no composer known). I'd title it "Big 13, Where News Comes First". Debuted September 1982. https://www.newspapers.com/clip/58047792/ Edited August 26, 2020 by Samantha 2 1
