I didn't really care much for the newscast in the 1980's, seeing as how KABC sucked the competition dry, but Hal and Jan and later Terry and Lynette were the team to watch. I've just read on Wikipedia that George Putnam "was widely believed to be the inspiration for the character of Ted Baxter on The Mary Tyler Moore Show." That was precisely my thought when I saw Putnam at 1:18 in this compilation! BTW, Kevin Sanders (at 0:35) was a high-profile anchor in Australia in the early days of Aussie television.
