  1. Past hour
  2. Same script different cast. Tom did a decent job as expected. Seamless transition. IMO the iffy set and formatting persist. I don't think he'll beat David Muir but I anticipate NNN will remain a strong number two. There's a new segment "The Cost of Denial" about the toll of healthcare insurance denial on patients. No doubt a conversation sparked by the Luigi case.
  3. Not trying to sound mean, but will we have another announcement in 3 more months that he is leaving Up Close. Not sure why he couldn’t have stepped away from both shows (5/11) at the same time. Also, did he make a Hebrew reference with Sade’s name? I feel like sometimes he forgets he has a very diverse audience.
  4. Here's the YouTube version.
  5. There will be a break for now in launches. 4 stations will launch within a week of each other beginning in late July/Early August
  6. Wow that was harsh got home later but i saw the last 15 minutes so i can really put a finger on it. I have some other opinions but id keep it to myself. I’m just glad I’m no longer on camera anymore, ehh I hate it one thing it made me realize is I don’t wanna be famous. Maybe someday I’ll return, but I like my sales job I was making more anyways. Austin will be fine he really likes small markets he’s not a fan of big markets because he cares and wants to mentor journalists like myself he’s a good guy who just a the wrong end of a deal he was passionate he wouldn’t be able to see potential like he did in me in a big market because he wouldn’t have been able to hire me without no experience or Eric or Marcus. He generally doesn’t care about market size he loves what he does I wish they were more people like that in all industries.
  7. With Tom Llamas taking over NBC Nightly News I'm thinking back to when Brian Williams was at the helm. I really liked his narrative style, especially in his anchor intros. The show has truly not been the same since he screwed himself. Shame. I really liked the broadcast from CNBC HQ during the 2008 financial collapse especially the shaky hand newsroom shots.
  8. Actually 31 years LOL
  9. End of an era. Interesting that he said he’ll remain at EWN at 6 for years to come. Mike Marza is going to do great alongside Sade.
  10. Jesus. Blurred or not why would they even air those images? The content could have just been described. News in the 70s and 80s was RAW! History repeats itself. With news of CBS Atlanta leaving Channel 46 and going to Channel 69, here are some news reports of when the CBS affiliation almost went to Ch 69.
  11. Turns out Strahan is staying on GMA after all, albeit on a reduced schedule.
  12. 2028, for all of Tegna's CBS affiliates.
  13. Tom seems like a nice guy. But his delivery for me lacks the gravitas of Brokaw, Williams and Holt that preceded him. He has a delivery similar to that of David Muir. Im not a fan of the breathless clipped style. That NBC and ABC now uses for the past decade. The reporters dont even use complete sentences anymore. After watching Tom Llamas for a few minutes. I had to switch to CBS. I was Night News viewer for decades. But Im kinda done now. Ive always had respect for NBC News as an entity. BUt i cant take it the tik tok style delivery.
  14. They will have a hard time.
  15. Yeah I predicted this when they rebranded. There’s a reason Gray is removing all the network logos on their station logos…. Watch for more of this.
  16. Today
  17. From WABC-TV: Bill Ritter takes one more step towards retirement, announcing tonight (Mon 6/2) that he's stepping down as 5:00p co-anchor. He will continue to appear on Eyewitness News at 6:00p. Mike Marza, who replaced Ritter at 11:00 not long ago, adds the 5:00 starting tomorrow (Tues 6/3). https://abc7ny.com/videoClip/16636706/
  18. I know it’s a long shot, but wonder if this is a play by Gray to pick up WSB from Cox. Sell WPCH, scoop up WSB and run it with WANF as an independent and a merged newsroom.
  19. I can only see Hearst buying WKOW and the Wisconsin stations to bolster WISN plus WAAY to bolster WVTM. The rest would be difficult for Hearst to imagine buying. I don't see them going back to Hawaii (for KITV).
  20. When does the affiliation agreement with Tegna expire?
  21. Effective tomorrow Mike Marza takes over the 5:00 with Sade. Bill stays on the 6 with Liz. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1AhpnvNR1h/?mibextid=wwXIfr
  22. Will they hire, build and launch a newsroom and product in just 10 weeks? If it is outsourced again to WCBS, WFOR, KTVT, WBZ or other O&O, I just can't see how they will have an actual local presence and build viewership. Because there is a large Gray affiliation agreement part of all this, I wonder who pushed whom? It puts a little different light on this.
  23. I haven't had much of a chance to watch the show since the update, but it feels a bit grittier. Interesting for them to leave a studio to go into the newsroom. I kind of wish the daytime newscasts would go back into the newsroom (though I didn't care for the boring flashcam setup).
  24. I do not get modern broadcasting trends. Normally you would affiliate with the station that provides a benefit in terms of audience and stature and it's been that way for decades until up to this year. The WPLG affiliation switch in retrospect was definitely a sign of things to come, the networks have devolved from strategic alignment to focusing on the bottom line which happens to be money and nothing else. I have a feeling CBS is considering even more affiliation swaps with the stations that they own. I wouldn't be surprised if KTSW became a CBS owned and operated station. I would try to figure out the sense of it but of course it's Shari Redstone who's actions make no sense whatsoever. Good luck to WANF, I have a feeling their independence is going to net better ratings then whatever WUPA can come up with.
  25. Yeah. CBS is going to do the same thing in Seattle and Tampa. They could in theory but Kiro since Cox is for sale, but I doubt CBS would be willing to spend the money to buy it.
