First of all, show some respect for those main anchors. They are the highest paid people in a newsroom, for a reason.. and they earned it. Most of them are the most seasoned on air folks in the building, having worked their way up to incredibly hard to get positions. They are the gatekeepers of the newscast. They bring talents you don't have. So their destiny.. is up to them. But to answer your question, yes, most primary anchors these days are expected to turn a franchise or specialty piece two days a week or more, and should be open to it.

Comcast to split into two companies
tyrannical bastard replied to broadcastfan9751's topic in General TV
Good. This merger should have never happened in the first place. In saner times, Disney should be next, at least with Hulu & Fubo being under their total control now. -
Basically, a virutal un-doing of the 2011 merger of NBCUniversal into Comcast. Comcast will keep the tech, wireless and delivery enterprises, and NBCUniversal (including the theme parks, networks, Peacock, etc...) will comprise of the rest. https://apnews.com/article/comcast-nbcuniversal-sky-5dc27c2e6fe45eb78eae4336e025b4e2 (mods, feel free to delete or merge this thread into the other one in General TV)

Main Anchor Reporting
tyrannical bastard replied to MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie's topic in General TV
Absolutely. If they're doing original reporting on a worthy subject. But if it's a pet project to heighten their own profile, or are simply re-voicing national packages, then no. - Today

And as a result, starting tomorrow Cindy Fitzgibbon moves to nights while Kelly Ann Cicalese moves to weekday mornings:

If this belongs someplace else, please move to appropriate spot... I've been wondering what your guys' thoughts are on the main anchors and reporting duties. Should they do so?? I notice that KNXV's main anchors, both morning and evening, do a feature story once a week on top of their anchoring duties. To me this is refreshing. Overall, main anchors tend to have their noses in the air and think their doesn't stink. They tend have God complexes and honestly seem off putting. I understand, they are the "faces" of the station... But they did go to journalism school and I feel that doing "light" reporting duties would be even more refreshing and keep their attitudes in check.

So after all that trouble to have Comcast acquire NBCU it's effectively being reversed.

Big news this morning. Comcast will split into two independent companies. One will include the media and entertainment business (including NBCUniversal) and the other will include the broadband and wireless business. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/comcast-spinoff-nbcuniversal-sky-split-two-companies-rcna352188

Discovered composers & publishers of music themes

That's a huge find. I had heard from somewhere that "That's What Friends Are For" was a slogan that WCMH used but never saw any proof. -
That’s his second report on Alzheimer’s and second time on the 6pm news since stepping down from the anchor chair. His first report was on the 6pm on Friday, June 19.

I wonder if this treatment might help Bill? It won't reverse the disease, but at least in this 80yr old patient with advanced Alzheimer's disease, it improved functions and quality of life, in what I have to say is a remarkable way. Only one person in this trial, so the results in a larger case study are of course unknown, but if the affects of the treatment truly had such profound improvements, it seems worthwhile. https://www.sciencealert.com/magic-mushrooms-and-alzheimers-one-remarkable-case-raises-new-questions

Also note in there that the 11pm is going solo moving forward with just Mike Clark at the helm. Unrelated to that... After 16 years at the station, WPLG's Liane Morejon is getting a well earned promotion from just reporting to weekend morning anchoring. She'll still report three days a week. https://www.instagram.com/p/DaEJ5atlMIP/?igsh=c3RybzNqMWliaDll

I liked them having live programming on Saturday and Sunday nights but the show never really found its footing this year from what I’d seen. The hosts were all a bit boring.

WCIA 3's longest-serving anchor, Jennifer Roscoe, has decided to call it a career after 34 years there. They aired a half-hour special but this is the off-air version of it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wcia.com/specials/celebrating-34-years-at-wcia-jennifer-roscoe-says-goodbye/amp/

Interesting that even with this primetime shift, MS NOW will still have more live weekend hours than CNN or Fox News
-
More weekend changes. The Weekend: Primetime airs its final episode this Saturday (June 27th) and video podcasts from Crooked Media will take over weekend evenings. Also, Alex Witt will leave MS NOW later this year.
