  1. Past hour
  2. Just today, I came across a rare WCMH commercial block from November 1982 and at the beginning is a portion of a promo that WCMH used featuring meteorologist Jym Ganahl who was at the statiomn during this time. But, here is something fascinating I came across. WCMH's slogan at the time was "That's What Friends Are Four" which leads me to believe that this was the name of WCMH's 1983 news theme. However, I do not know who composed the theme package. You can view the video below the text to check it out. Also, you can go at 20:22 to view the Larry Roberts promo that is in this video.
  3. Today
  4. Are they now?
  5. After six years, today was Sam Jacques' last day at WZZM 13. Its also her last day in the TV business.
  6. Louis Bolden made his official debut at WHBQ last night during the 5pm newscast (Well, technically, he showed up on Good Morning Memphis first).
  7. Well, yesterday he worked the 6pm, 8pm, and 9pm shifts alongside Laura Diaz. Today he will be at 5pm and 10pm.
  8. Wait a minute -- didn't Karen Hensel work for WISH and got pushed out by Circle City??
  9. At that point, I don't think anyone is taking a CBS presidential debate tender seriously.
  10. If Rogan joins CBS News, he needs to get a presidential debate and do it Fear Factor style.
  11. 48th and 6th - where FNC is. Looks like it’s gonna take a year or two. Should be interesting but I think they are permanently killing off all their street side studio windows.
  12. WRTV Primetime Anchor Team announced.
  13. Yesterday
  14. Exactly. I did start to switch between the game and the news on a different channel, and when they mentioned early on the Knicks closed the gap, changed the channel to WABC and left it there. I'm sure that station also had similar reactions with reporters in and out of the Garden and reporters at one viewing party in Central Park and another at a place in Brooklyn until switching to the Tonight Show (which Fallon left after taping to be at the Garden!).
  15. Lol And what Knicks fan was actually watching CBS last night to even see this?
  16. KIMT is one of those poor stations that has been passed around for decades. It was one of two stations that the Schotts sold (including WBTW) to Spartan. After Media General bought Spartan, KIMT was one of the stations they divested so they could buy 4 of NBC O&Os. New Vision, who bought them, merged with LIN, and then Media General owned them once again when they merged with LIN. Then KIMT was one of the castoffs during the Nexstar merger, not because of cross-ownership in the market, but with cap space. Heartland bought them, sold out to Allen Media, and here we are. At this rate, Gray could own them as a failed station if Allen keeps cutting...
  17. Appears Fox is making heavy use of the NFL scorebug font for studio shows during the World Cup.
  18. I'd be willing to guess that Ten's decision to launch a +1 channel may have been influenced more by what UK sister network Channel 5 is doing than anything else. And of course, to boost the rather dismal ratings (aside from a few key shows) of the nation's #4 rated TV network. As for 10+1 being in HD, I personally think it'd make far more sense for them to upgrade Nickelodeon to 1080i (bringing it in-line with the main channel, Drama and Comedy) with the timeshift channel being run in SD. Either way, it can be reasonably presumed that the launch of "10 HD +1" will more likely than not, result in the demise of a MPEG2 SD version of Ten's main channel in metropolitan markets after just over 25 years. 10 SD ended in regional areas a while ago, most likely due to bandwidth constraints as a result of transmitting extra SD channels (Sky News Regional, SBN) the metro markets don't have and probably wouldn't want anyway. Overall, the wheels seem to be in motion for the eventuality of Australian terrestrial TV consisting of all-MPEG4 and mostly HD transmissions. Just a pity that it's taken so long, and I'm not entirely confident it'll be finished by November (the point where we will have had exclusively DVB-T transmissions for more time than the longest analogue/digital simulcasts lasted for!) but I suppose we've only now reached the stage where enough people have retired older MPEG2-only TVs and associated viewing equipment for a full-on transition to be made viable.
  19. I am getting this info from an LA Times article and a LA Daily News article that talked about him moving to FOX 11. I apologize if my interpretation of it is written badly but those two publications are where I got my sourcing from.
  20. is this from an in-house email? Very weirdly written for a message board post.
  21. The CBS Evening News with Joe Rogan.
  22. Whatever Allen has left at their stations... continues to burn them to the ground. The latest example... Starting this weekend, no more weekend news at KIMT as its 10pm news is being dropped for Seinfeld. https://www.reddit.com/r/Broadcasting/s/ynNCaSgXei
  23. This is one of those times that explains why live television was invented for... WCBS ready to close out their 11pm news when the Knicks win at the last second in Game 4. KJ, Lonnie, and Allen Devlin react to it all before they go off air.
  24. WTVA has migrated! https://www.wtva.com/
  25. I was just noticing that too. I wonder how long until they start combining newsrooms. In Carterville/Harrisburg/Paducah/Cape Girardeau, WSIL is still operating independently of KFVS and in Evansville, WEVV is still operating independently of WFIE. I don't know how a combined brand might work in S IL/W KY, but Evansville folks may get another awful brand name like Nexstar did with WEHT/WTVW being Eyewitness News (at least they dropped the "WEHT Local" and "Local 7" brands after a while and reverted to ABC25 and CW7). Bracing for something like TRISTATE NEWS NOW or EVANSVILLE NEWS NOW. Or maybe they'll surprise us and just move everything to WFIE (NBC, CBS, and Fox) and make WEVV collection of OTA subchannel networks...
  26. I suspect she'll be the next to leave CBS.
  27. WLFI and WTHI (but not WTVA or any of the others yet, probably soon) have moved to the Gray template on their websites.
  28. Fox on 6th Ave or Fox on 67th St?
