  2. What do you and Jase think of saying our experience really comes into focus? It's a heck of a lot more commonly used then fore or forefront. Those promos are way overbuilt and stuffy. That's moldy oldy dinosaur style dry writing...

  3. According to a quick search, the secondary definition of 'fore' is "the front part of something, especially a ship". Honestly, that totally sounds like a word Ron would use (and in the correct context), but yes, a more common phrasing would've been ideal. Heck, 'forefront' (the leading or most important position or place) would've made a similar point, in a form more people would understand.

  4. So when did CBS This Morning replace the "floating" rear projection screen next to the green room with an identical monitor wall? Also I just noticed they are doing augmented reality bit using the Cronkite map that's in a corner between the existing video wall and the video wall showing the control room multi viewers. They are now using the Cronkite map to show where different stories originated (usually the front page is shown). Previously they would use one of the aforementioned video walls but now they appear to be using a steadicam. As they zoom in showing a city using the steadicam and there would me a box overtop the area on the Cronkite map. Then once they show the location they put a bigger element in front of the location box showing the newspapers front page and finally the article is shown closest to the viewer. You could see the floating graphics move back and forth with the camera operator. It was pretty fluid so I guess it was a rig. Anyone know what is powering both the virtual reality and sensor systems. Hopefully my explanation of augmented reality made sense.

  5. Sinclair's new diginet Comet TV launches on October 31st according to TVNewsCheck. From what RabbitEars lists, it will be carried on stations owned by Titan (New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philly, Houston, San Francisco, Boston, & Honolulu) and Tribune (Denver, Indianapolis, Hartford, & New Orleans) in addition to Sinclair. Comet TV schedule for 10/31-11/6 Another interesting thing I've noticed is that Comet is replacing Zuus Country on some Sinclair stations (including WICS in my area). RabbitEars shows a few Sinclair stations still carrying it in some markets where they have enough stations to not displace it. It seems that the affiliate base for Zuus has really dwindled.

  6. Eeeeek if that's the case Freddie, boy they sure didn't go out of their way to offer anything truly local and compelling for the Meridian market as the newspaper article that promoted the new newscast mostly implied. If you don't have memorable, local faces out in the market every day, does a bond with viewers really happen? Worst/cheapest case I figured they would record or do inserts for the Hattiesburg newscast and possibly their other small markets, and that Meridian would have a decent setup with some kind of promotable commitment to the viewer in place. This is disappointing that the effort seems so micky-mousy and half-ass. It's exactly the reason why nobody has been competitive, by any measure, in the past. Give it a drop of time and they'll be scratching their heads mulling over why ratings are so dismal..... only to rinse and repeat the cycle in the few years.

  10. I found the new staff on WHPM's website and discovered through research that the newscast for the Meridian station and Hattiesburg station is actually not in-house but is probably going to be recorded. http://www.mygtn.tv/story/11414354/about-us

  11. ABC 7's not going down at 10 without a fight. A new promo campaign launched today touting the late newscast. Unlike some other recent promos, their not telling viewers to watch because of habit, but instead reminding viewers of their experience, which is a good move. The plugs also are far more serious and sophisticated in tone compared to recent efforts, which plays very well with the message. One thing I noticed, though, is the set on which the promos were filmed. No, it's not from the new set, but it looks like a bit of a throwback to the digs they had in the early/mid-80's, with lots of beige and a big Circle-7 on the wall. Overall, it's a very nice promo.
