1. Things just got more interesting in the possible merger between Media General and Nexstar...

 2. How about.. Noon: David and Shirleen 4: David and Michelle 5: Diana and Sade 6: Bill and Michelle 11: Bill and Sade Or put Lori where I said Michelle and put Michelle on Mornings.. A lot of times people like where they are and don't want to move. Lori is a big draw for the mornings and I don't know if they want to risk that.

 3. Not terrible, but I loathe Nexstar's obsession with "local" brandings. It's cheesy but I know Perry Sook is obsessed with emphasizing localism. Whether that actually trickles down into a better news product or is just a veneer is up for debate. Their reputation for cheapness has a basis in reality. They don't have a stellar reputation in the business...it's not just confined to websites like this. It's more how they treat employees versus their presentation/stuff that gets focused on here. Just look on Glassdoor (esp. reviews from news department employees)... That being said I've never worked for them, so I can't speak to any of this from personal experience.

 4. It is a quota system caused they have plenty of qualified reporters who could've got the Saturday gig with respectable resumes who people recognize. Peter Alexander, Carl Quintanilla, Harry Smith, are considered logical shoe in anchors for the job. Jose is being used as quota, they have a woman hosting the Sunday edition and now they have a spanish speaking Latino.

 5. I think they'd *have* to offer the 4&6 to Lori first, but if she turned it down they would surely promote Shirleen. Shirleen will be first in line for any promotion over Michelle (sadly). Michelle would be amazing on weekdays. But the WABC ND is all about minority hires.

 7. Maybe vacancies would've been a better word. If they were smart, I would pair Bill & Sade at 5&11, and EITHER: David & Shirleen at 6, David & Diana at 4, and Diana & Shirleen at Noon OR: David & Diana at 6, David & Shirleen at 4, and Diana & Shirleen at Noon OR: David & Shirleen at 6, Shirleen & Diana at 4, and David & Diana at Noon OR: David & Diana at 6, Diana & Shirleen at 4, and David & Shirleen at Noon Switching out Shirleen for Lori in the above scenarios is also plausible. No need to move or hire anyone else for these roles or holes.

 8. I don't feel like starting a new thread but I have a gripe about certain news apps such as NBC and ABC O&O and previously Hearst when they send out push alerts. You click the alert to view the message and and sometimes the app opens to what is essentially the stations website but first you get a splash page asking you to download the app before you can get to the news article while your already in the app. Is there any specific reason for this such as the web and app CMS being completely different? Where pushing a web link is quicker than updating the app properly for breaking news?

 10. Its sure hell of a lot better than KMID's old logo and look. Plus, they are now in HD. KMID doesn't look like the station that it used to be a week ago.

 11. I think Lori would do great things for WABC in the afternoon/evenings and I don't see many reasons (minus personal reasons) why Lori would want to turn this down, she's certainly earned it after all these years.

 12. Think of it as the lil 3 legged doggie that finally gets adopted at the shelter... "It's a rescue".

 13. KMID just posted this 40 minutes ago, the talent open is at 17:50. It's a BIG improvement from what they used to have, KMID is now using Aerial with Charlie Van Dyke's voice.

 14. Marvin Scott should anchor again. I can see him doing a midday or weekend morning 'cast on PIX should either come up. One other thing...WELCOME BACK, BRENDA!!!

 15. Listen, this poor station has NEVER had any love from Nexstar. Nexstar spent the past 8 years trying to sell it. Once they couldn't sell it for a multiple that made sense for Perry, they bought the Fox. Now they are finally pouring some love into this station. They have needed it. It's always been the red headed step child. I believe Nexstar made up for it and more. Someone post YouTube videos.

 16. Anyone who had Tong/Blackmon in the anchor team pool can collect their winnings at the window. Anybody? No one?

 17. That logo is hideous. Other than that, KMID just went from being the station with the worst look in the market to the station with the best look in the market. The next station that needs to get a refresh soon is KCAU. That station is way behind its Citadel sisters (WOI and WHBF) in getting a new look.
