  1. Yes I recently took a tour of the new facility and took these exclusive pictures...

  2. Yeah, bland is just about what I'd use. You can tell the bare minimum went into presentation across the board. KIMA had a couple fairly bland looks (and, inexplicably, one of Gari's most obscure news music packages). KAPP had generic logos, cheap presentation and then a bad KXLY knockoff. KNDO had a really generic open in 1993 and a bad open in early 1996 (using the same "squares" look that I associated with WRTV and WANE in some off colors). KNDO-KNDU *really* improved from a presentation standpoint when they went to the WHEC knockoff look later in '96.

  3. NMSA is incorrect - WXIA actually started using Hello News in 1982, not 1980. This is the "New Standard and Tradition" theme that was introduced with the affiliation swap in September 1980. (It's possibly by Peters Productions, though that's just a wild guess because they did the previous couple WXIA themes, and because the close had a sung jingle at the end.) I've had audio of the close for many years, but NMSA has never added it (even when this open surfaced a couple years back).

  4. They also discussed that reporter Zachary Kesch (sp?) having dreadlocks.. I don't know why it matters I guess they're trying to show they're different. I don't care what a reporter looks like, I care about the product being put out and FOX5 Isn't quite hitting it.. The morning is fine. I love GDNY but hate those skits they do.. Once in a while it's ok but not all the time.. When Empire is on and they do the special at 10:30 I think it ridiculous. They needs to go back to reporting real local news and stop worrying about hip-hop and who's with who. I think the 6pm is stupid and wasting Ernies talent.. Have him anchor a NEWSCAST solo if they don't want to add an anchor but what they're doing sucks. Social media is important and will continue to be in the future but with the exception of GDNY I definetly don't prefer the "new" FOX5

  5. Yes and no. Marc last anchored in September 2002 but was on paid leave until December 2002. Lisa went on medical leave shortly after Marc left the newscast. She made a short comeback at 5pm but officially left Action News the first time around at the end of 2003. Lisa did return around 2006 but in the capacity of a features reporter. Around the same time as Marc and Lisa's disappearance Dave Roberts gave up the 5:30pm half hour (as well as the 11pm). Scott Palmer's head must have been spinning. Scott left himself a few years later.

  6. That KSTS open is a rarity. It's been a good year for obscure Spanish-language news opens. I'm glad it was the only one the guy didn't talk over! EDIT: It's also from the *first year* of the news operation. Hah! Apparently they started only at 6pm and expanded to 11pm not long after.

  7. News coverage of First Day Ceremony of Carreta Stamp at History Park from KICU 36, KNTV 11, and KSTS 48, circa 1988.

  8. What is that? That looks much more at home on Fox 29. The last logo looks and works much better to promote/use it. (Although I kinda do like the font used.)

  9. This move makes sense for Natalie since Today would have her traveling on location, such as the deaths of Prince and Nancy Reagan recently. Plus she's been with Today for 10(?) years doing the third hour. I don't blame her taking on this new role... a change of scenery. Also, I have enjoyed watching Sheinelle on Today. It may because she came from the Fox Philly station why I'm rooting for her, but she brings new life to the show that Tamron and Erica couldn't bring.
