You won't get crap from me!!! I miss Hossa and Judy in the morning, Linda and Sylvia at 11 with Tracy, Alan, Linda, Mike, and JR at 4, Ron, Cheryl, and Jerry at 5, and Ron, Kathy, Jerry, and Mark at 10.

Apparently the Jumbotron outside the WJLA headquarters in Arlington came down. Apparently they are upgrading it to modern HD technology. Back in 2012 a HD board was approved but one of WJLA and the property developer's requests was for a static logo for sponsorship. They would have been in the form of an L bar with the bottom corner of displaying the ad and the top part of the L displaying community ads. Unfortunately it never was updated because of the expense. For a while before the 2012 vote WJLA was unable to display their newscasts because the old board couldn't handle the HD signal (couldn't they center cut it?) and was displaying radar and weather graphics. https://www.arlnow.com/2016/08/12/rip-wjla-outdoor-screen-and-news-ticker/ The old screen. The proposal for advertising that failed. To be honest the old screens location looks like it would only be visible from the road or across the street. I think there was another open area on the building where they could have placed it.

I'm underwhelmed. The homepage feels like it's missing content. Individual article pages are better, but they use that "scroll to the next item" gimmick that I've come to hate.

It's pretty funny. She seems like her perfect lifeplan was in danger. I wonder how she reacts if Diet Coke is sold out of the vending machines.

Linda Yu tonight at 10! Been too long since we've seen that. She did the 6 too, been too long for that as well. In fact, it's a marathon day for Linda, anchoring ALL evening newscasts - 4,5,6,7 and 10! I miss this sorta thing. And before all the recent changes, it used to be a somewhat regular occurrence, especially on a Friday night. And because I fear it may be because no one else could do it since everyone is off/and or maybe unavailable, I'm just going to enjoy it since who knows if/when this will ever happen again. My favorite was always when Linda would fill in at 10 when Ron was still there and it was Ron, Linda, Jerry and Mark. Those were the days... it's just not Channel 7 anymore. I'm sure I'll get crap for that, but sorry it's how I feel.

Well, we have an even better idea of what the first weeks of independence will be like on the old number 9. Fri 9/2: Wrigley 100 (from 2014, anniversary special) Mon 9/5-15: SportsFeed specials (TBA) Wed 9/14: LIVE Morning News special (TBA) Fri 9/16: Cubs Playoff Preview special (TBA) Mon 9/19: Last Man Standing debuts (8pm) As you might have guessed, the TBA's mean the time slot is unknown. Also unknown is whether SportsFeed will air every night, or just during the week. I'm also really excited to see what they come up with for the morning show special. Even if there are some old clips, I hope the only live bits aren't just segment introductions. Baseball will also air in M-F primetime on September 9, 12, 20, 21, 28 & 29. WPBF now has the same website that was launched by WJCL last month. I guess this will officially be the new Hearst web layout.
