  2. Everyone's talking about Nexstar/MG and the divestures. But I didn't forget about the stations sent to Graham and at least I know that WSLS and WCWJ are now under Graham control. WSLS is alone and WCWJ now joins the 1,000,000-ton gorilla WJXT as its sister home.

  3. I hate to tell all of you this.... All these locally produced NYE shows now suck pretty much for all the same reason. Most of these productions no longer allow the consumption of alcoholic beverages during the show. So they have turned into super lame affairs. Sure they slip the talent some booze...but the "fun" of working (production crew) those shows is now gone since the HR goons ruined it for everyone. Now it's just a bunch of miserable union hacks trying to grab what little overtime is still available. Oh BTW... Those holiday "full credit rolls" had to be negotiated by various broadcasting unions (NABET,IBEW,AFTRA-SAG etc..) because they take up valuable airtime that can be used to generate revenue. Ho Ho Ho Headbangers!

  5. A few of my Twitter friends watched Star Wars Episode VI starting at 10:10PM... timed so that the Death Star explodes at midnight.

  6. Or just do what I do every NYE... NOT watch the shows and find something else instead. SportsCenter maybe? I watched them instead.

  7. I don't know how they did it but, against all odds, they managed to make this show even worse. It was just sooooo boring. Siafa and Shinelle were quite dull as hosts, and there was absolutely no chemistry between them, or any of the talent. None of them wanted to be there. The musical offerings were very weak, so bad that they even cut to a pre-taped Blake Shelton concert in LA for a while. I was switching back and forth with ABC7, which was also a train wreck (as usual), but at least they seem to be having fun and actually put together an entertaining show...

  8. And WYTV gets passed along a FOURTH time as WKBN's surrogate. (New Vision/Parkin, Lin & Media General). The Vaughn Media shell lives on yet again... Technically, it was supposed to be separated back in December (2 years after the LIN merger occured) What gives?

  9. Already preparing for the inevitable announcement that those so-called 'capital bureaus' to get the merger approved are cut to death when the FCC isn't looking. The good news though; so far, they're sticking to the websites (Gray is keeping the MG sites for now with their logo in the bottom bar). With everything so connected to backends and apps these days it's going to take a while before we see KRON move to 'prideofthegoldengate.com' or something ridiculous. That, and LIN/MG is leagues better than anything they have, so hopefully their tech propagates to the other Nexstar stations.

  10. ...and if you're a DirecTV subscriber with a COX and/or a Hearst station in your market....time to put up an antenna. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/100363/no-new-retrans-contract-for-hearst-directv http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/100362/cox-directv-fail-to-reach-retrans-deal I bet there are some freaked out people in Boston right now....this along with their NBC switch-e-roo!

  12. I'm wondering the same thing...there is one market that Nexstar departed (St. Joseph, MO) and two that they have "swapped" stations in (Lafayette, LA and Fort Wayne).

  13. They now have 171 stations. But with little room to grow...meaning they can't go after groups that may decide to sell like Meredith.

  16. After watching the 11:59 sequence with DNCE standing behind a robotic Seacrest (yeah, I'm being redundant) looking like rejects from Andy Warhol's The Factory, I'll never watch ABC's countdown ever again. What a shameful display.
