  1. The fact they essentially mimicked the home base setup (same desk and video walls with columns) made it look like they didn’t really move. Then the backlit walls with those peacock prints don’t help. It would probably have looked better if they went in a route similar to the side diffused LED walls that KNBC has. They are at a resolution where you can make out the movement and know what it is but not too high where it becomes distracting.

  2. David Ushery and Pat Battle anchored this past week at 11am and 5.. they are AWESOME together. They should be a permanent team in some form.

  3. Larry did the 7 o'clock show tonight, and it was his formal debut. I can't think of a situation ever where an anchor has retired/voluntarily left (so firings don't count), and that person's successor started their new role the same day.

  4. After almost 10 years, any plans for Sinclair's WJAC Johnstown getting a new set?

  5. Fair to say that then. And I respect that. Unrelated to that... WCJB's Tracy West has left the station after just a year and a half. She has been replaced by Haley Wade, who now anchors The Morning Edition and its news at noon.

  6. Not in this lifetime! Not with Channel 2 Action News dominating the market.

  7. Gough's last day was yesterday. This was reported a while back, he's going on a sabbatical to pursue other projects ranging from writing a book about assorted childhood abuses he survived to focusing on a Sunday morning show he created and produces, Wine About The Weather. The fun question is who will fill his shoes because his doing the late news was an insurance policy for if Bob Kovachick were to retire. They really have no weather bench anymore since their hires the last five years either a) left the market [WFXR's Jason Caterina and KKTV's Jordan Sherman] or b) are longtime vet retreads [Andy Gregorio was at WTEN forever and Neal Estano did THREE stints at WRGB with stops in-between at WJXT, then WBAL]. That morning move is a path of least resistance as who else do they really have? The person they wanted in such a role left the business and all apologies to the weekenders but they've kind've calcified into that role after so long. Asa's a caretaker of sorts.

  9. I was speaking with my mother about the article and she told me “if NBC was so sure about Megyn they would have given her the co anchor position.” Which is interesting - they’re paying her all this money and not using her fully.

  10. He did commercials for Runza in the '80s. Answer: Jim Morgan (according to a YouTube post of Omaha commercials)

  11. They had to scrub out so much of WTLV's news identity for the simulcast (NBC chimes and peacock especially) and were in a transitional phase.

  12. The late-night edition, Heute Nacht, used a jazzy version of the theme: The top story of this 1995 newscast? A U.S. government shutdown.

  16. I was actually expecting it. I was wondering who would be first: Sally-Ann or Eric Paulsen? You know he's next (been at the station roughly the same time as Sally-Ann). Sheba Turk should take Sally-Ann's spot, but knowing management, it wouldn't surprise me to see Leslie Spoon get it.

  17. I’m glad she’s feeling better and has made it through this injury. That said, to be quite honest, I’m not a Sade fan. She seems like a wonderful person — and well liked by her colleagues — but I don’t find her to be at the same level as the other anchors at WABC, past and present.

  18. Yep she’s finally back. What a trooper she is. She’s gone through so much in her career. Godspeed to her and glad she’s back!

  19. Which brings up an interesting, yet disappointing IMO, observation, why is it that Buzzr is in Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, And Gainesville, but not Miami? Seriously? No Buzzr in a big city like Miami, while smaller cities get to enjoy it?

  20. Agreed, Tom Negovan should be on the anchor desk at WGN. Ben and Lourdes should also get 6:00 along with their 4:00 show. Also, this has probably been said in this thread, but 4:00 is NOT "evening". Anyone know how Dan and Lauren rated while filling in for Larry and Robin in the mornings? I'm kinda hoping down the road WGN would give the morning B team 4-7 AM and give Larry and Robin 7-10.

  23. A KMTV bumper for Divorce Court at the end — who is the VO??? He’s done other stations out in the Midwest, mainly WCMH, WTHR, and even rival KETV. Been trying to find out who he is for years.
