  1. I never understood the idea behind having Michael Strahan appear at the desk at 7am and present serious news stories, as if her were an actual journalist. It's annoying and, quite frankly, an insult to viewers who are putting their trust in ABC News that someone dependable will be giving them information about terror attacks, politics, extreme weather, etc. Not to mention it being an insult to Robin, George, Amy and all the other actual journalists at ABC News. It's a shame because I really enjoy watching GMA when George does political interviews so now I just try to catch those when they're posted online. It's nothing against Strahan - I liked him a lot on "Live!" - but his skills there do not translate to being part of the 7am crowd at GMA. I wish they would have restricted him to just leading the 8am hour with the studio audience and participating in some 7am segments. I have found myself lately watching CBS This Morning a lot, Good Day New York, and have been sampling Today since Savannah and Hoda took over.

  2. Hello. Respectfully, I love Stephen Arnold's "Beyond" as much as I love OSI's "Fox Affiliate News Theme." The Fox News Channel may use the "Breaking News" cut from OSI's "Fox Affilaite News Theme" for breaking news coverage FNC produces for the Fox network.

  3. Keeping the KDKA theme going...here's a full KD&You promo from 1985 Looks like Arthur Greenwald was the creative services lead who can probably fill in some of the gaps about packages then - he probably commissioned it. On his own YouTube (comments in the below video) he says he has some additional KDKA video he'll digitize at some point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Cem3axUjAtI;list=UUtx-ZQ5lTazLSj3478FnVoQ

  6. This is an opinion I can agree with. The notion that Michael is only good at football and breathing, and fails at every aspect of this role is silly. I firmly agree that he should not appear alongside George and Robin for the first half hour or two, but he is more than capable of being on the panel and contributing when they move upstairs. Fun fact: it's hard to believe, but Robin and George have quietly become the 2nd-longest tenured anchor duo in GMA's history, only behind Charlie and Joan.

  7. There is an ASCAP registration for "Real News Theme" by John Bauers, which also shows an alternate title "KCOP Theme." There's also a copyright registration for "Real News Theme", with John Bauers listed as author, and dated 1993. I'd guess that it's the same theme you're asking about.

  8. I want to talk about Graphics for a second because with the NBC-affiliated Hearst stations updating theirs for Super Bowl LII and the Winter Olympics, I'm curious to see what the five NBC stations in West Palm Beach, KC, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and Tulsa plan to do with Their gfx.

  12. Add me in to the GMA dislike bandwagon. Sometimes I also DVR when a certain guest appears or after certain news scandal or alert took place. Other than that, the show lost its way with me for a long while since after Michael joined. He shouldn't have left Live where he was much better (although I wouldn't blame him if Kelly Ripa caused him to leave. Can't stand that wench anymore.) Also... Then, I'd rather watch a number-3-rated morning show that actually provides the news I need and care about, rather than another that does about a handful of news and about 90 minutes of worthless fluff and features about two garbage reality shows I supremely do not.

  14. I’m back with more Albany stuff! Never knew Mr. WGN himself did promo work for WNYT... Plus this 1991 report is currently the ONLY surviving footage of their “News 13” era on YouTube after the 1988 house fire video got taken down (and speaking of WGN, Randy Salerno!!!) Whoever has that audio clip of their 1988-1991 open better get that uploaded — that would definitely make my day. If only there was another ewjxn, except that channel would upload vintage Albany clips instead of Phoenix... *sigh*...

  16. Who would buy those radio stations? And is Scripps going to ask for a higher price than they will really command? I mean, it took CBS ten years to unload their radio stations...

  19. This is news music-related, but I recently found out that a radio station in Puerto Rico used TM's "All The News" package back in the 1980s. The station: WAEL radio in Mayaguez. You can listen to the clip at 8:38.

  26. Glad to know I’m not the only one not vibing with GMA lately. This is one instance in which I hope a show over reacts to falling behind in the ratings and makes some drastic changes.
