  1. It's a good question and I would venture out and say yes but let's wait and see what WKYC and WJW does (especially WJW) before I can give you a straight answer (besides that any discussion about the other Cleveland-area stations can be discussed elsewhere)

  2. I wonder if Alan Mitchell retired? That may be why KTEN has an opening for the Chief Meteorologist job

  3. I guess they figured out that the localportalhomepage.net format was just a stupid fad after all.

  5. At some point it makes you wonder what Scripps' end game is in the industry. All this "hip and cool stuff" combined with weird decisions and little recent investment in the on air look makes you wonder what's going on.

  8. WFAA in 2000. A real blast from the past. Also this is one of my favorite graphics packages they had (they still had it when we moved from Chicago to Dallas when I was 6 years old).

  9. KTEN, DMA 160, has a posting for their Chief Meteorologist position. The reason I post this is because it appears that the successful candidate will be succeeding long time CM Alan Mitchell, who has been with the station since 1995.

  10. As per Our Maine, the current WPME intellectual unit, except Ion, will move to WPXT's spectrum on March 22. As per RabbitEars, the lineup will look like this: WPXT - RF 43 -> 34 51.1 WPXT CW 51.2 Me TV 51.3 WPME - from 35.1 51.4 Escape - from 51.3 51.5 Laff from 35.2 New Call Sign RF 35 -> 24 35.1 Ion - from 35.2 35.2 Qubo 35.3 Ion Life 35.4 Ion Shop 35.5 QVC 35.6 HSN Source: Any Ion Station

  11. The big, gaudy black trapezoid bug certainly is new... Looks like someone made it in PowerPoint compared to the old bug. And yeah, the old package used white lower thirds and red ones for breaking news, but it seems like they're always red now. I feel like these are a step backwards. The old package looked a lot more modern.

  12. They are based in Plano, and some of the Media General stations were already using Steven Arnold themes. Then again, I do see your point.

  14. Have to wonder how long Jerrick remains employed after that... although, if no one is watching, it might not matter.

  15. You can still see Nexstar influence over the organization. From taking away employee benefits to cheap sets and graphics, to forcing stations to use Stephen Arnold themes.

  17. I think it's a mix of both TEGNA having ties to KTTU/KMSB and the fact that Raycom operates it. It's an indicator that KMSB/KTTU is a Raycom station, for the most part while KOLD is a TEGNA station, for the most part

  18. To be honest, I haven't seen her fill in that much. Cecilia and Paula are filling in more frequently than before.

  19. When Robin is out these days, how often does Amy fill in for her vs. Cecilia (or another substitute) coming in for Robin while Amy remains in her normal role? I have to assume Amy would want to be sitting in for Robin on those days, with Cecilia sitting in for Amy. It's strange that this isn't what seems to be happening. Unless Amy was out, too.

  20. KB runs a 30 minute form of The Now at 7:00, which is their de facto local newscast in a market that doesn’t have any newscasts in that time slot.

  21. If anything, Scripps will go towards a restructuring bankruptcy, not a liquidation bankruptcy. Seriously, the company is not going to be peeled apart. WXYZ or other stations will not be sold off separately. Far more likely the company will wind up like Granite... holding on just for the sake of holding on.

  23. And the same can be said about the iGen people, but I like to get local news on Television (at a convienient time) and get Sports News/Highlights on CBS Sports HQ instead of ESPN plus national news on CBSN instead of Fox News, CNN and MSNBC

  24. It should also be noted that the station just hired a new news director named Greg Phillips (formerly from WVUE), who started work at WMC-TV a couple of weeks ago. http://www.wmcactionnews5.com/story/37305157/wmc5-names-news-director

  25. I just saw her do a news report tonight. Whether that means she'll be a general assignment reporter or an anchor/reporter remains to be seen.

  26. I don’t think you see on air talent suing their news director for discrimination ever day of the week. That’s what happened here. There’s a reason WABC management has just been gutted. The WABC GM allegedly insinuated that Lori Stokes submitting to sexual favors would speed up her contract negotiations. Here is the following from Laura's lawsuit: August 3rd: Goldberg said, “My agency is currently involved in negotiations to remove on-air talent from her contract but still have that contract fully paid because this person was treated so poorly by WABC, worse than you have been treated. I actually thought Dave Davis was going to lose his job last week but somehow he survived.” August 16th: Lori Stokes (“Stokes, black female, Co-Anchor) announced her last day of employment with WABC “as of today”. Edwards sent a station-wide email announcing Stokes’ decision to leave. Laura told Goldberg, “I’m guessing Lori might be the person you were telling me about. So sad.” Goldberg responded, “She’s gonna [sic] be fine”. On September 6, 2017, Andrew Brill (white male, ESPN Radio Reporter) told Laura generally, “Dave [Davis] told Lori [stokes] during contract negotiations, you know there is a way to make this whole process go a lot faster.” Laura recalled Goldberg had told her previously that Davis “likes black women and has a history of inappropriateness.” Thus, Laura believed that Lori was propositioned for sexual conduct in exchange for a better negotiated contract.” Laura then notified HR that she would not sit in negotiations alone with Dave Davis.

  27. It was a great report. It's strange it was shot on film: by 1983 videotape was being used massively by TV stations.

  28. In honor of M*A*S*H 35th anniversary of the three hour series finale, WLS-TV went behind the scenes of the final filming. And IMO, this was one of favorite shows in the history of television, and the series finale of M*A*S*H will go down as one of the highest rated dramedy in TV history, and I'm glad that MeTV airs M*A*S*H at 7PM Eastern/6PM Central. Goodbye... Farewell... And Amen.
