3. Honestly, I want to read that logo as “17 WNCN” or “17 News”, but it beats “CBS North Carolina”.

 4. WNCN has the new website and a new name: CBS17 News and cbs17.com

 5. They also changed the website URL to CBS17.com, instead of one of Nexstar's portal-style URLs.

 6. Out of curiosity, how would that logo look with a 9 on WNCT? It is probably very workable by maintaining the font and rounding the 7 to a 9. It would look weird on some numbers, but the placement of the CBS eye would actually work well for WNCT too. It would look really awkward with a "round bottom" number like 3, 5, 6, 8 or 0 though, and even with a 1, 2 or 4 it wouldn't look as good.

 7. I fail to see the improvement. Even with the MG acquisition, Nexstar is getting cheaper and cheesier. The micromanagement from Irving sticks out like a sore thumb on the Nexstar station in my neck of the woods.

 9. More like any Chris-Craft station with news in general (excluding KMOL and KCOP.) Meh... KMSP using Charlie Van Dyke sounds like a downgrade from his predecessor: I hope that an open pops up soon... will need to give the Twin Cities a thrashing on the Wish List Thread, though the other white whale is any WTCN during their ownership transfer to Gannett in 1983.

 10. That's pretty damn interesting... most of my child and adult life they've been last place. Combine the 3pm Ellen lead-in with Barbara and Les, two of the longest tenured anchors in the market...that's pretty damn good. On the flip side...what does this mean for the other two stations?

 11. For the month of February, WTKR won the 5:00 timeslot for the first time since 1994 (before the station ditched the Eyewitness News branding for the short-lived TV-3 News branding)

 13. I wonder how they're going to handle the two KFMB stations websites? Do you think they'll keep two different sites for CBS/CW, or do you think they'll lump it into the same site? Tegna still doesn't have control of the domains (Still in station hands), so I expect it to take a while for a new site. https://www.godaddy.com/whois/results.aspx?domain=cbs8.com https://www.godaddy.com/whois/results.aspx?domain=thecwsandiego.com KFMB owns News8SD.com, I wonder if they'll use that domain? https://www.godaddy.com/whois/results.aspx?domain=news8sd.com

 14. They might have been thinking "Lets use WSPA's logo with a 1 for our new logo."

 15. They have become very complacent... being the top for long enough usually does that...

 16. That is true, they are number one because they are in the number one city, which happens to like ABC programming. So they do have that advantage. I do agree, I don't think they'd be on the same boat if it were a different market. They just need to be refreshed. I feel like the broadcasts have been stale and the on-air presentation is kinda lazy if you will. I'm hoping with the new leadership things will change.
