  1. WLBT received a marker on the Mississippi Freedom Trail Wednesday. The station's actions during the Civil Rights Movement is well-known. Story: http://www.msnewsnow.com/story/38149588/wlbt-receives-freedom-trail-marker#

  2. Everyone? Only WDJT tries to discredit forever staffers. Mark, Paul didn’t deserve how they were treated in the end. And Michele’s journalism did not warrant her departure.

  3. My vote is on Mr. Jones but we'll see where this ends up. This one could get nasty.

  4. Also before there really wasn’t the graphics engine or monitor wall capabilities to handle such high resolutions. So you would get pixelation as well.

  5. That’s not good! They revamped the morning show two years ago by adding Donovan. Then they replaced Brooke Thomas after six months. Wonder what drastic changes they would make this time around?

  6. Some sort of syndicated "alternative" program? It was apparently headquartered in the Twin Cities area. I found this on some St. Paul cultural interview schedule from 2016: "Ramsey County Historical Society Television: Medium to the Mind — Preserving the Interviews of TELLSTAR NEWS TELLSTAR NEWS, a nationally syndicated news and commentary television program, brought viewers alternative perspectives and information on critical issues facing the nation and the world; 112 half-hour interviews have been saved from its six years of production. Ramsey County Historical Society would like to conserve, preserve, and share these important stories with youth and adults within the Cultural District and Saint Paul Public Schools. Funding in the amount of $12,430 from the Cultural STAR program will enable the conversion of all interview videos into a digital format, produce four 10-minute videos for classroom use, and make all of these resources available to the public on the RCHS website." The video description says 1986-1995.

  7. Hmm, that's the theme used by NJN. Almost sounds like it might have an image song? I can easily hum something like "People You Can Count On, 27 Eyewitness News"... (Certainly explains WXOW having that theme) Here's a KOVR newsbrief from 1981: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=g-mQix0sGP0;t=834

  8. In Nexstar's defense....the only issue is that Scott took their video from WMBB's website, and posted it to his FTVLive YouTube channel. Had he simply hyperlinked the original video, it would be a non-issue. But Tom Lewis has blown this way out of proportion. Scott has had his run-ins with people over the years about things on his site, but this has to be the worst I've ever seen. He really hit a raw nerve with him. And based on people who used to work for him, it's not a surprise... At one time (when he was at WJHG)...he not only was the main anchor (for 6 & 10) and news director, but also the co-host of the top-rated radio morning show in Panama City! If that doesn't inflate who you are...

  9. They must have one of us as an intern this summer posting these 'on this day in x' newscasts. Great stuff.

  10. They are a lot brighter than rear projection. These are LED screens where each panel is probably 27 inches diagonal. But unlike LCD or LED backlit LCD screens these allow for seamless appearance. Before they were cost prohibitive and you could make out individual pixels and resolution sucked. Now if you shoot to close to them you can make out pixels. It’s basically the same technology stadium screens use.

  12. Freddy Awards without Ed Hanna is like Peanut Butter without Jelly. Still good, but not as GREAT. Kudos to Eve for a strong performance. But as they should have said - "The role of Ed Hanna will be played tonight by Eve Russo." We miss you Ed!!

  13. Probably time to pull the plug on so many of the changes they have made in recent years. It is time (and has been time for awhile) to send WCCO back and put some Philly back into our news. Jim & Rahel need to go and Ukee is much better in the morning than as the evening anchor. Ukee is great - Ukee is Philly - but he doesn't live up to the "Camelot years" heritage of this once great station. Simply put - I want my KYW back.

  15. A KTVU report from presumably December 1988 by anchor Elaine Corral on Pixar's third annual Christmas party, after which she roasts Pixar laser scanner technician Don Conway. Pressing play will take you right to this report, which is part of a compilation of videos made for Pixar's 1988 Christmas party, which appears on the recently-uploaded DVD titled Made in Point Richmond. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=OIcu8w3rXTQ;t=337

  18. That would have been awesome although I think the muted reds and oranges probably would have clashed with the mostly gold and teal set. I'd be interested in seeing what the insert elements would have looked like but I doubt they ever got that far.

  20. Best I can recall, this is the first complete newscast from Jessica Savitch's KYW days that I have seen. Elsewhere, another WRC newscast from the first week of August 1971 (This one from that Friday, the 6th)
