  1. http://www.wafb.com/story/38362607/donna-britt-to-retire-from-wafb 38 years at the station and she's battling ALS. She currently anchors the 6pm newscast and is retiring on June 13th (A week from today). I wish her luck with her battle and hope that she can enjoy her time with her family. Elizabeth Vowell took over for her whenever Britt stepped down from the 10pm newscast so I'm thinking she'll add that to her duties as well.

  3. Actually Thom Allen also did voiceover work for WTSP in St. Pete during the “Stay In Touch With 10” era from 1983-1988. If you think about it his voiceover work really wasn’t just Post-Newsweek stations but also those in the Florida News Network news share agreement with WPLG, WJXT, WTSP, and WFTV (I don’t know if other Florida markets were in the agreement). I haven’t lived in Florida since 2010 but last I heard Thom was doing voiceover work for the Autonation affiliated Auto Dealers in Florida.

  4. With NBC buying out ZGS, its lone full-power station, KTDO El Paso, is getting an overhaul. On Monday, the station debuts expanded newscasts, as well as a new website and mobile app. The changes are very clearly timed to the start of the World Cup, which kicks off on Thursday. The new newscasts fill the 4pm hour and bring the station in line with the other Telemundo O&Os. Ivette Sánchez, who had been reporting for six years, becomes the new female anchor at 4, 5 and 10, while existing male anchor Claudio Herrera will also be on at 4:30. Karla Mariscal will anchor both halves of the 4pm hour.

  7. They have a proprietary network of radars in addition to the national weather service. I’m assuming they mean KXAS’ Big S Radar and TX Thunder Truck when deployed. I know the data’s shared with the sister stations across the country.

  8. In 1996, Telefe purchased the rights to air Beavis and Butthead late at night (weeknights at 12am), but I don't know why they decided to air small segments dubbed by local voice actors making fun of the Argentinian TV programming. Take a look!

  10. They've been adding a fair amount of vintage material in the recent past. Some are parts of newscasts while others are the full ones... minus the close in some cases. 5/11/1976 - The infamous ammonia cloud in Southwest Houston 2/2/1980 - Clips from a weekend newscast 5/15/1980 - The Late Report 5/16/1980 - Live at Five

  12. Loved the old apartment set - so well lit and warm - made the guests look great. One of my favorite sets of all time for news. Wasn't a fan of the new one. Just plain dark.
