  1. She was there for 10 years and only gets a 40-second sendoff? Shameful.

  2. My educated guess as to why some of the Hearst stations aren't in HD at all is because of the fact that some of the facilities that some of these Hearst stations are in just simply aren't capable of transmitting an HD signal. So basically for stations like WAPT, WPTZ and WMTW, the only way how they go HD is if either Hearst gives them better equipment or they give these stations new facilities that are capable of allowing those stations to go HD

  3. A very early edition of Good Morning America from 1975 (still featuring dual news anchors, among other things): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=CjLJ0bmMqtI;m=2;s=21

  4. We got our first real look at Philly numbers in years - it's currently posted in the NYC forum - and while there's a number of interesting takes that can be derived from that the biggest takeaway is 3's numbers. To put it bluntly, they're awful. Particularly the morning hours, which are a very distant fourth compared to the other three stations (which are very competitive - FOX is just .1 behind WPVI at 6am, and WCAU is not far behind). I think you have to blow it up at this point. Change anchors, change the approach, change what needs to be changed. Mornings probably have to be fixed first - the 11pm numbers are kind of decent and short of an act of God those WPVI numbers at 5 and 6 are still going to be astronomically high. I've watched a bit of it and I have to agree - the experiment is a failure. I like some of the ideas, like Summerfest, but it makes no sense to turn the evening and late newscasts into a travelogue or an FYI Philly type show. Something needs to be done, and quick.

  5. A long closer for Canal 9's noon news from January 1996, anchored by Cristina Pérez (before moving to Telefe) and Guillermo Andino (before joining América 2). The guy who composed the theme (Luis Reales) was listed in the credits!

  6. They most likely have a minimum plant to transmit HD and syndicated programming. But don’t want to go through the expense to build one for news.

  8. Now we know what the meteorologist job post is for.. Do you think this is related to contract negotiations post Tegna takeover? Or is he really just retiring? We'll miss you, Matt.

  9. They'll probably just use WDLI for Ion Life, just like WLWC.

  10. At least with WDLI, this means that they're going away for good. Ion is getting the license and the ability to take back WVPX to themselves, essentially.....unless they want to air even MORE Ion subchannels on zombie station WDLI!?!?!?!? Had the auction not happened, I bet WDLI and other TBN's would have sold out, eventually. The only beneficiary of the proceeds is the bankrupt owners of TBN probably throwing the money at their debtors.....

  12. So many FOX O&Os are expanding newscasts on their stations, and you can add KDFW to the list. After recently expanding Good Day DFW to a 4AM start, KDFW now is elongating back to the end of the show as well. Starting in September, KDFW FOX4 will extend the locally produced, #1 rated program to 10AM while pushing Live with Kelly and Ryan out of the 9AM time slot it has long held since Regis and Kathy Lee. The show will move to 10AM under current plans. http://unclebarky.com/dfw_files/14dc89079efbff9cc26289ea8a82b3c1-4207.html

  13. That's November 14th. The program debuted almost two weeks earlier on November 3rd.
