  1. While the challenge in the KDLT deal is directed at Gray, the challenge in the KCPM deal is directed at the seller, G.I.G. KRDK is arguing that G.I.G. cannot sell the license to Gray, and thus profit from the transaction, because the station has been off the air for more than 12 months, which, according to FCC rules, means the license has expired.

  2. General Cinemas owned them back then. Here's a WBTV newscast from August of 1995, with their EQ Vance look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMo_RTmpmhw

  5. All three... wrong thread. Remember... 2008-present, not from before 2008.

  6. That WJKS one is pretty darn good-- I think it's one of the few times (maybe the only time) I've heard the Cool Hand Luke/NS2000 music on a then-NBC station!

  7. Take a good hard look at this logo... Because Nexstar unveiled a brand new logo for WWTI. What do you think?

  8. Smart move. Saturday nights are a wasteland anyway and airing the news at 8 won’t cause anchor fatigue. WGN has aired news at 8 before late night Cubs and Sox games ever since they went back to independence.

  9. Nothing new, but there will be another 9pm Cubs telecast on the Circle 7 this Saturday night. The real surprise comes in how they're handling the primetime preemptions. Because ABC is running a 2-hour documentary from 8-10, the "late" news will air at 8pm that night. As far as I know, that is a first. I'd assume the network show will air immediately following the game, unless they have something else up their sleeve. http://abc7chicago.com/entertainment/program-note-revised-programming-lineup-for-saturday-july-14--for-cubs-game/3753209/

  10. CityNews Toronto has existed forever, CityNews used to exist in other places, but then the 2010 crisis hit. Since then, CityNews is back in Edmonton and Winnipeg. And now, starting September 3rd, the City is back in the News for Calgary, Montreal and Vancouver viewers. Same times as the EDM and WPG ones. Calgary (via Canadian Newswire): https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/on-air-team-announced-for-citynews-calgary-launching-sept-3-688010861.html Montreal (via Canadian Newswire): https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/on-air-team-announced-for-citynews-montreal-launching-sept-3-688010971.html Vancouver (via CKWX News 1130): https://www.news1130.com/2018/07/12/citynews-vancouver-air-team-announced/

  11. Feder mentioned Hosea's surgery on this, the anchor's 61st birthday. https://www.robertfeder.com/2018/07/12/robservations-abc-7s-hosea-sanders-recovering-abdominal-surgery/ Update: They wished him a happy birthday on the 4 o'clock news, saying that the surgery was related to his previous cancer treatment.

  13. WDSU. Their ex station KITV went HD within six months of the sale. Of course they just installed Sony PTZ camera’s and a Viz Opus all in one system. It’s kind of funny to think a group of relatively small size, privately owned, sitting on a huge pile of cash isn’t updating their stations to modern day technology. Not all of the equipment in the stations have to be network standard but put out good HD pictures.
