  1. Ah, yes... “NXT on #HTownRush...” If I didn’t know any better, it looks like TEGNA is trying to save money by removing what they deem as unnecessary extra letters and spaces from words.

  2. Great find without the call letters in the Youtube title. First time pretty much all of the closing music has been found in the clear. That lasted I think from around 1980 until just a few months after this clip. They updated the music a touch when they introduced a new set later in the year - but that music update only lasted about a year and a half before Kevin O'Brien the legendary GM came on board and commissioned the classic 1987 theme and 3D SF Bay open. Someone get this to NMSA in case it's taken down.

  3. Better yet, the whole newscast is available, in 60fps: Worth noting — this is a generation of KCRA opens I had not seen. They'd change again in 1996, including an updated music package (the NMSA groups both).

  5. I see what you mean, but the black/red color scheme is a lot easier to read than all the various color schemes and fonts before.

  7. Here’s a change for 2018 that really bothers me. For some reason on their NASCAR Xfinity Series coverage this year NBC decided that all cars will be the same color (black/red) on the graphics and leaderboard. To me this comes off as lazy and frankly unacceptable for it to be 2018 (this hasn’t been a normal thing on NASCAR telecasts since 2006). Here’s a comparison of last year and this year.

  8. Has anyone stumbled upon this? It’s a KARK blooper tape from 1984 (I actually think it’s earlier than that), on Ron Gardner leaving the anchor desk and disappearing. In reality Ron went to former KARK sister station KOCO, and was replaced with DJ Bob Vernon, who himself also came from a post-Gannett station, WLKY.

  9. Former WRC meterologist Clay Anderson was back at the station this morning filling-in for the first time since 2007. They had Somara Theodore back last night as well.

  10. Not to stray off topic, but it would be an absolute GOLD MINE should anyone ever find a clean version of that theme.

  11. A young and handsome 24-year-old Rodolfo Barili anchors this Telefe primetime update on Monday, April 13, 1998, where he also reads the lottery results. He wasn't the main anchor yet: he worked as a reporter/fill-in anchor, and took over the anchor chair in 2002 alongside Cristina Pérez.

  13. Great find. I think that music package dates to around 1992 - the lower third graphics are also from around then (they borrowed from the early 90s NBC News lower thirds). Liked how they'd sometimes key the feed from LiveCamera 3 behind the anchors for the two-shot. One thing a little off about that set - the 'CHANNEL 3 REPORTS' lettering above the anchors never matched lettering they used for the masthead on air.

  14. That was previously uploaded by Ken back in March of 2014, but without commercials. A full 30 second version of WOI-TV's Keeping You in Touch jingle (sounds like it came from TM Productions). but with 5TV replaced by Channel 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=NoWlB4MBGxg;m=3;s=53
