  1. She was indeed a pier diem freelancer. Candace McCowan replaced her I think before ending up getting the promotion.

  2. Alrighty Julius. I'm going to be blunt and explain to you why WTXF and KYW will keep running newscasts despite "ratings woes". MONEY! As long as WTXF and KYW can sell ad rates at a decent amount and turn a profit, then ratings won't matter as much as you and I would think. That's why WTXF and KYW expanded its news output because they can keep all the revenue in-house rather than sharing it with a syndicator.

  3. Vintage KMEX news circa 1973. Might be the oldest local Spanish news video on the internet right now. Yes, back in 1973, KMEX's newscast was simply called "Noticiero". Video gets off sync due to someone thought it was a good idea to put a random menu thing right after the news intro.

  4. JD Rudd appears to be gone from WEWS. The station is now looking for a new AM meteorologist, along with a temporary part-time one.

  6. I think that's the oldest Spanish-language newscast in the US on YouTube. (The theme is in the NMSA as WTOP 1968.) Holy cake! This is from September 25, 1974. The newscast is extremely heavy on national stories. In fact it has no local stories in the A block and none until three into the B block. The lead story in the B block is about the Honduran foreign minister describing the impact of Hurricane Fifi on his country at the UN General Assembly. That hurricane struck the country in September. Another story in the B block, and the first local story, is on the then-upcoming sentencing of California Lt. Gov. Ed Reinecke for perjury.

  7. And that Peter Van Zelt guy (or however you spell his last name) will troll on your site saying how bad it is for stations to add newscasts and how stations "would" go belly up if the newscast expansions don't stop or whatever the heck he says on your site

  10. What I think they should do if they’re giving Kori the 10 is give John the 5:00 show with Kaity or Kirstin Cole (or someone) and have Kori and Tamsen do the 6&10.. Atleast give John a full hour

  11. Here’s a bit of WTKR on the derailment of the Norfolk & Western 611 in the Great Dismal Swamp in May 18, 1986. Anchors Betty Francis and Ross MacCallum. No open or music or anything on this clip, unfortunately. Would love to see more of WTKR during this period... this was months before going to the “Discover the Land of the 3” look.

  12. Non-consummation notices are now posted. The deal is officially dead. That's a shame. They could've at least close out the CBS portion of the deal since it was greenlighted. I wished Gray would've partnered up with Brady. They would've had a better chance getting everything approved that way. Let Gray keep the NBC & CBS, & let Brady get the ABC & Fox. But I would not be surprise if Gray come back at this. At least with the CBS portion.

  15. Is this maybe a markets show? Interestingly, the Gaylord-esque map animation has the map configured as it would be in most of Asia... The open itself is a "What were they thinking" mish-mash!
