  1. Wow, the 1996 open is jarring. The station had done a lot of modernizing in presentation but the news open was completely divorced from that.

  2. I did notice that. It showed in my channel guide that it would be a short newscast. It did give Jeff Smith a break, as he was in for Amy Sunday morning.

  3. Yeah, I’ve been seeing that too over the last couple of weeks.

  4. Is it me or is ESPN suddenly using more of the Saturday Night Football-specific graphics on non-primetime college football games? (particularly the blue and white/diamond stuff)

  5. KGWC, KFNB, and KTWO (and its assorted satellites for the State of Wyoming) are operated from two run-down steel buildings in an industrial section of Casper. What group (other than Gray) would be able to modernize the stations (I've seen production from high schools that are better than they churn out) and keep them in the red? The only one I can think of that is really dedicated to very small markets is NPG.

  6. As Ten appears set to drop "Eyewitness" (for the third time in its history) and adopt the name "10 News First", here is when Ten first became strongly associated with the "First" brand.

  9. Interesting... does EGAD have a client list anywhere? A KPTV open pops up at the end of this compilation, using similar GFX to sister station KTVX at the time. Really nicely done, I’d say. Who designed those? Going back even earlier to 1996 at the end of this video KPTV used an open from 1991 (maybe 1992?) and lasted it until ‘96.

  10. Yeah, I would say that's probably Vance, and if not him, maybe EGAD... It looks like they updated their L3s at some point (report #3). Looking at his site he had WHNS as a client though...

  12. I’d expect it. Don’t be surprised if Sky personalities start appearing on NBC’s PL coverage soon.

  13. A mislabeled YouTube video. It says it's a 1990 newscast from WTAJ in Altoona. In reality it's a 6pm broadcast from the competition, WJAC in Johnstown:

  14. Prior to 2006, the Cup Series was the only thing that got customized number treatments on any networks. Every lower NASCAR series as well as all racing from other sanctioning bodies got generic number treatments.
