  3. And to think nearly a decade ago, they were very close to getting sold off to Post Newsweek and being merged with WPLG. To see this, even though they might not be first place, they still are doing things as close to the Renick Way as possible is nothing short of impressive.

  4. Despite switching to Overture by this time, KSTP still used the beeps from its News Image/Leading Edge days to open its news and, in this instance, the severe weather crawl. I still get goosebumps when I hear this teletype effect.

  13. 30 minutes of work instead of 2 hours. Hard news instead of The Bachelor recaps and viral videos. Getting to waking up in the morning at 8:00 a.m. instead of 3:00 a.m. Reporting for 60 Minutes, which is the highest profile program in TV news and something he'd be able to do into his 70s. Obviously he chose to stay at ABC and will probably make a lot more money than he would have at CBS. But it isn't as if there were no reason for him to consider CBS's offer. In fact, according to the NY Post's reporting, he did indeed consider the offer.

  14. Couple months in now and the set got a mini refresh with the big colored light panels that adorned either side of the home base backdrop being replaced by stone pillars. To me, it's a much better look. The light panels were bare and didn't really add anything of substance to the video wall. The stone brings it out much more.
