  1. Some new OKC stuff from Chris Sloan...... KWTV in the later days of Newsline 9: KFOR with their Vance/EGAD look: KOCO with the current logo but still under Gannett ownership:

  2. That too would be an option. Eitther way I don't see an end of The Good Morning Show in the 7am hour, I think Tegna should recognize that this is a piece of history in the Piedmont Triad

  3. But since WFMY already produces the 7am hour (which ends after tomorrow), I don't see why they couldn't opt out of programing on one of those sub-channels and carry it as an extension of the morning show. I would think these discussions have already happened (or are taking place) behind closed doors at WFMY/Tegna. So I'm thinking this is not likely to happen, but it would make sense to me to keep the hour via a subchannel.

  4. They could certainly do that or once CBS starts rolling out the localized versions of CBSN beyond the O&Os, WFMY restores the 7am hour at that point when they launch their own version of CBSN. I know CBS hasn't said they'll roll out the localized CBSN's to groups like Tegna but it would make sense for CBS to do that.

  5. I checked Wikipedia and it turns out that WFMY has actually 3 sub-channels: Justice Network, WeatherNation TV, and Quest. Probably not likely, but I wonder if WFMY could consider running the 7am hour on one of those channels. At least WFMY wouldn't lose that hour of morning news that has really become important TV history, certainly for that market.

  6. And see that's where the bad part comes in for WFMY, they don't have a duopoly partner to be able to continue the 7am newscast and I think this is where WFMY will likely lose some of the viewers in the morning to stations like WGHP and WXII/WCWG

  7. If they do, they'll always have KQCW to continue post-7am news. I think CBS may force them to air it in-pattern in the near future, if trends are any indication. I remember when CBS mandated all affiliates to air both hours of the Early Show, KOTV compromised by starting it at 8am and moving the last hour of their morning show to KQCW. They used to air it 5-9am on KOTV.

  8. I see it as a sign CBS is trying very hard to rescue their ratings on their network newscasts, as they remain a distant #3 for both CBS This Morning and CBS Evening News, and getting much worse with new hosts and leadership...if they are making demands like that in regards to WFMY. Let's hope KOTV doesn't also get forced into dropping their 7am newscast on their main signal (KOTV).

  9. It appears WSB was using News Leader by 1987:

  10. Meanwhile in Orlando, WESH 2 is going to start doing a simulcast of the 10pm newscast on Estella TV Orlando, and they already simulcast the 5pm newscast with WESH itself. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/tv-guy/os-et-wesh-10-pm-news-estrella-simulcast-20191126-exocykg6tvhdzgawqaixvkljda-story.html#nt=oft-Triple Chain~Feed-Driven Flex Feature~section-a~story-b~~1~yes-art~automated~curatedpage

  11. She’s more like heading home. Her husband has moderately high end restaurants (which are great) around DC and Maryland along with two restaurants at Regan National and Dulles. She was based there before she got the CTM job and she was flying herself & and kids back to DC on one of the shuttles every weekend.

  12. That's the big problem with the show moving to Washington, though--does the American public really want even the perception of another newscast focused on politics when there are so many dedicated to the cause, and so many speaking to any number of different politically-minded choirs? I'm not saying leading with weather every night is the way forward, either. There's room for one of the national newscasts to do in-depth reporting every night, CBS would fit the bill like a glove, and they used to do it during the Pelley era. Even something akin to CBC's current format of The National where it's not a clean introduction of the news of the day, but rather an analytical approach to the news with investigative reporting sprinkled in, would work. Instead, they're trying to copy ABC and it shows.

  14. Even considering its small market size, this doesn't feel like a newscast from 1990:

  15. If WAVY, DMA 42, is allowed to keep thier helicopter, KFOR, DMA 43, can keep theirs as well. If Nexstar cannnot handle it, sell.

  17. I'm disappointed that there wasn't a bigger change to the graphics as I was hoping for a totally new look. Thought they might go for some Euro-inspired package seeing as Altice is from France and The Netherlands and the logo sort of gives me that feel. Instead, the graphics are largely very similar. Sure, they use more white and lighter blues. The lower-thirds with a person's name and title are super bland. The info bar is similar, but no longer shrinks its height for one-line items (I hated when it did this). Weather graphics appear untouched (I'm expecting them to switch to the lighter colors). New slogan is "Local Matters." To RGSJenkins, I agree that the ticker looks too small, but I believe it's only used for weather alerts. With the look that's being phased out, I think it slightly covered the info bar. Outgoing look for reference: A few screenshots:
