  1. Sooner or later, WSYX is going to become the #1 station in the market. Because Sinclair has been pouring money and talent into the station for years, while WCMH has been trying to recover from Media General, and now WBNS is just another hopeless Tegna clone. I have to wonder if Jym Ganahl really retired from WCMH.....because it seemed he came right back to WSYX when his non-compete expired.

  2. WBNS went the cheap tegna route. If they wanted experience, they would have promoted Scott Light, or brought it someone of similar caliber. Instead they bring in a kid from Toledo, who is good, but hardly the most qualified. And, he is probably going to make 125k, instead of what the job should pay. But its not just WBNS. Look at CMH. They passed over the older white guy there (Johansen) who is clearly more experienced, for a younger kid, who looks misplaced next to Colleen.

  3. On good authority, Stefan Holt's move back to WMAQ had nothing to do with NBC cost cutting, it was the anchor's family's choice. Supposedly, New Rochelle didn't cut it for Stefan's wife, Morgan.

  4. WBNS should be groveling to get Jeff Hogan back which I'm sure he sitting on top of the world at WRAL. Jeff and Yolanda would of been great together. Marky -Mark ok but nothing to write home about. For TEGNA it another cheap hire.

  5. Yes, something is definitely going on. In the market, for our African American community, (specially us Millennials) WTTG was the go-to largely thanks to her and Allison. WTTG is going to hurt from this definitely! I wonder if we will get more insight soon.

  6. uh wow. Shawn leaving was largely (ish) considered to be the last straw for many of the commenters throughout Fox 5's social media after Allison's departure. I felt like this was probably coming sooner or later, but didn't expect it this soon. And it's also another pretty unceremonious departure for a veteran anchor -- really questioning what kind of gameplay the GM has been going for as of late, and if they're intentionally trying to alienate a core part of their viewing area.

  7. Shawn Yancy at Fox 5 DC announced she is leaving WTTG after 19 years. https://www.fox5dc.com/news/shawn-yancy-signs-off-from-fox-5-for-the-last-time-exactly-19-years-after-her-first-day

  8. I’m sorry but an hour long newscast should not be anchored solo. I understand the pandemic perspective (and budget cuts) but in the long run I don’t see a solo an or at 5 working out.

  9. Hearing from friends at non-affiliated Nexstar stations (particularly WDVM) as well as some at Nexstar fox stations that the whole “no more CNN video” thing is an absolute shit show, as one could expect. They are literally having to take full screen video from tweets from reporters in other cities in some cases, since they have no VO for national stories.

  11. Another reported high-profile departure at NBC 10 - weekday morning anchor Vai Sikahema. If this is true, with the slowly growing number of departures or anchor lineup upheavals across their O&O network, NBC won't be doing their ratings (if they arguably matter anymore, anyways) any favors. EDIT at 11AM GMT 7/30: It's true. In an article posted by Philadelphia Business Journal about 12 hours ago, Vai is retiring this year, with a departure slated for sometime in November 2020. More information can be found here: https://www.bizjournals.com/philadelphia/news/2020/07/29/via-sikahema-retiring-from-nbc10-after-26-years.html Vai has reportedly been thinking of retirement for quite some time, as he's been actively involved with his church and nonprofit. Wishing Vai the absolute best post-retirement!
