  1. That's the graphic when you press it to get to the on demand video. The station has yet to debut the graphics on air.

  2. I believe someone months ago addressed this in an earlier post if you feel like scrolling. If memory serves me right, the affiliates ceded retransmission to the networks which when you step back makes sense. Steamers would have to renegotiate with every affiliate group, large and small which would be chaotic. In the end, everyone wants their payday, and no one wants to give in. Only the customers suffer, either with blackouts or increased fees. So far no one has come up with a better system. Maybe one day....

  3. I don't think either station has a choice. If he's a registered candidate, and buys the time, and the ads meet all of the requirements, they have to air the spots. Not doing so would get them in hot water especially if a challenger is also advertising their candidacy.

  4. Ayman didn't host his show on Peacock last night. Being so close to the holidays, he could simply be off. They could have chosen to go with alternate programing tonight instead of having someone else host his show. That's common

  5. Fallon & Meyers are wrapped til the new year, so immediate policy won't mean anything for them. Hell, they might be back home by the time their shows return.

  6. Here’s a pic of the revamped weekend studio that mimics the TS studio. Honestly— kinda looks a little better than TS.

  7. GMA Weekend returned to the ABC News HQ this weekend with a revamped set that closely mirrors home base of Times Square. Kind of a bummer, I loved having the show from TS 7 days a week.

  8. Wouldn't that put Google at risk of being sued by groups like Hearst, Tegna, Gray and Scripps for breach of contract on the ABC affiliates? Because they do have deals with those groups which did cover the ABC affiliates.

  11. Yesterday - Garrett anchored the 1pm hour under the generic MSNBC Reports banner - NOT as MTP Daily.

  12. The primetime hour does better (i.e., attracts more viewers) with an opinionated host than a facts-only host. Wallace is the latter. That's the long-game every media entity launching a streaming service is playing. In the short term it may be an additional source of revenue (or medium term, as in the short term they may incur a loss). But in the long term, they're betting cable will become obsolete, and people will pick and choose which streaming services to subscribe to for their primary content consumption. Those with well-established streaming platforms when that time comes will be better positioned than those racing to catch up.

  13. YouTube cares about money. The more higher the interest, the better they care, So many users are getting demonetized over small things as well. Soon all that will be left will be gaming, cat videos, rant videos, sports highlights, viral news/opinion clips, and interviews. YouTube never encouraged uploading copyrighted material in the first place, but if you ask me, people were going to find a way to upload rare television broadcasts/commercials.

  14. Spam and scams, and YouTube is tight-lipped saying 'No appeal for you! Remain terminated!" Do you see why VHS collectors are moving to Internet Archive (or elsewhere)? I searched, just for fun, 'fortnite 2021'. There's someone streaming and playing the newest Fortnite update and within 8 hours of upload it has 2,000,000 views. Yet the guys in the background who want nothing to do with video games, only to preserve television history for those generations who either grew up with those newscasts or for those whose parents grew up with those newscasts (but they didn't), get yanked off the interwebs. Ugh. Rant over.

  15. Not the case with Sony. Everything from the earliest seasons of Trebek's Jeopardy to Chuck Woolery's slightly forgotten Wheel of Fortune to even the polarizing Patrick Wayne Tic Tac Dough version. It seems like most people go to either Dailymotion or the Internet Archive to put Sony content.

  16. The lawsuit was historic simply due to the fact that User Generated Content and Safe Harbor provisions constitute for fair use. So if the management at WPLG Inc., (BH Media) feels that the value of an old newscast would diminish the value of its current newscasts (or probabbly some of the former anchors don't want their likenesses there), then that's another story for another time. Overall, this is a setback, but WPLG is within their rights.
