This is very easy. There is no Meredith creative hub. Matt Quinn, over at Hothaus, designed the standardized Meredith package originally for WSMV. It was implemented at every other Meredith station when Bob St. Charles became Group Director, as all marketing was hubbed before the sale. Now, however, that each station has a CSD again and Bob is back to being solely the CSD for WSMV, stations will inevitably go in their own direction. Hilton Howell highly prefers that all stations use Gray graphics. There are some holdouts, certainly, but those will eventually cave.3 points

Like WOIO's? Graphics implemented during Gray ownership are considered Gray graphics in my books. Howell probably does not care where those graphics came from. So, they're going out-of-house.2 points

As you said I think the KOIN news package would've worked better here. Just so long to the blue and yellow sinclair logo they've had since 2001.2 points

WJHG has upgraded to the Hexagon/Beehive look! This is one of the forecast graphics I found from their website: wjhg.com/weather!1 point

We don't know what's happening with Gray graphics at this point. The Meredith hub's fate is unknown, so before any of the ex-Quincy stations get new graphics, Gray must decide whether to shift these stations to the Meredith hub or to shut the Meredith hub down and go out-of-house (a la Page 1 of this thread).1 point

That's how it is for everyone else. No one said the blue or red was constant.1 point

Telemundo 47 New York also switched with WNBC, which is no surprise. It is only blue when the lower thirds are present, otherwise it stays "transparent."1 point

WTVJ got it recently and today WSCV, the Telemundo station rolled out the blue background as well. Any other Telemundo stations with the update?1 point

I mean...the CSD's work here is very childish, like a lot of Nexstar stations' in-house work. New watchers (important for the marketers) will not be captivated if your graphics are garbage. Nexstar, please hire CSDs that know today's design languages.1 point

I say it because internationally, Disney Channel, XD and Junior have gone dark to focus more on Disney+, where they don't have to share any revenue with pay-TV providers. The US and Canada might be different, true...but the children's market for traditional cable channels is declining, and Disney's new programming on those three networks exclusively without D+ sharing has completely declined. I would not be shocked to see the networks wind down before the end of 2025. Eventually, that same 'secret sauce' will be found for the major sports networks. Not anytime soon (as we see with Bally and had it not been cancelled, the Arizona Barstool Bowl), but Dish is done with RSNs, and with ESPN Classic gone, now ESPNU and ESPNews are the focus of networks to be reeled back for ESPN+ coverage instead.1 point

You think Disney Channel will go away entirely? If so, it would be the end of an era. I know in other countries it's been shut down. Losing VH1 and TV Land would also stink as they were both very popular for years. MTV2, BET Her and NickMusic were never that popular to begin with.1 point

We've had some severe weather today (again) here in Kentucky. They broke into programming.1 point

I thought of it more as NBCSN merging with USA, and USA being the brand that got to keep going on. NBC Sports no longer needs to buy filler like Mecum or PowerNation and fill 168 hours minus infomercials in a week, while the USA side gets to reduce the films and series they have to air on the weekends for live content they desperately need as their repeat shows can easily be streamed, without commercials. Frankly I want more of this; network mergers to remove pointless networks and 'bundle bloat' that have no reason to exist when their programming can easily do so on another channel space. NBCU has embraced this in the past by killing Trio, Cloo, Chiller and Esquire and with eventually do so with Universal Kids (now just a literal YouTube playlist with traditional commercials), and slowly Disney has by also taking out ESPN Classic and likely soon Disney Channel and XD (thanks, Disney+)...while ViacomCBS continues to go on thinking viewers need VH1, which hasn't shown a Video Hit since 2013, along with Logo, MTV2, BET Her and TV Land, which are all just rerun channels with different audiences, and that Nicktoons and NickMusic need to somehow still exist.1 point

What were you hoping for? NBCSN shutting down is kind of like a Kmart going out of business sale- Didn't have the money, inventory, or power to take down the top competition so it just fades into history1 point
-
I guess NBCSN had a very basic shutdown. They aired a rerun of a Mecum Auto Auction, followed by a promo for the Premier League moving to USA, and then a blank slide telling viewers to watch the Premier League on USA. I would've hoped they did something bigger, but I'm not surprised.1 point

They already lost Kasie Hunt to CNN+ and Geoff Bennett to PBS, and more talent might be on the way out. MSNBC has made some very questionable moves and they are losing viewership right behind that.1 point

The thing I don't like with MSNBC is that they don't notify viewers on programming changes... especially on weekends... The whole weekend primetime block can get pre-empted with repeat programmes without prior notice to viewers by anchors on certain days... When the network goes "off air" with repeat programmes earlier than usual, the anchors usually just sign off with "more news right after this" (but what follows is a repeat of a newscast or Dateline)... It's like they're trying to hide something. Local stations tend to be more caring in notifying viewers when newscast times are changed...1 point

The Rock is garbage IMO. I would've preferred NBC to sell back the O&O package to SAM for syndication rather than keeping The Rock. CBS Local *might* have been another option if they wanted to pull a WVIT and use the Enforcer logo.0 points

If you watch almost ALL of the Nexstar stations, you will see that Nexstar almost never hires Art Directors and CSDs who know their design language. Especially because most CSDs come from News, not Marketing and can't translate research to a comprehensive brand. The industry just doesn't care anymore.0 points
