  1. I'd argue the look of CBS News (streaming) is a better implementation than what's on network, outside of some minor nitpicks - IMO, the logo bug is too big, the little programming indicator is too small. I think if they adjusted it so that the programming indicator was within the box, it would help, and they could go back to what they have now when the programming isn't live. Example:

  2. All this during contract talks with Norah and CBS...yikes! But this is definitely not surprising from CBS. The Evening News is like a death sentence for journalist.

  7. I accidentally came across this in my guide: CBS will be airing golf (Farmers Insurance Open. Golf. Round 3) this Friday at 5, so CBS 2 News at 5 and 6 will be airing on WLNY. I can't immediately recall CBS 2 moving their regularly newscasts to WLNY due to a network preemption.

  8. We're also in the middle of a pandemic, which has affected staffing levels on top of people taking time off, such as Lori Stokes who recently returned following bereavement leave.

  9. The KDKA black and gold is the best looking that I've seen so far amongst the CBS O&Os. It's a departure from the usual blue or white box look on most TV news casts. That being said it would look nice if each individual CBS affiliate could have their own tweaks to the standard graphics package for individuality. As for the CBS News streaming graphics, it's the typical white box flatness, but it works nonetheless. really digging the textured world map element to the CBS News Mornings orange package. Overall the rebrand works though I thought they'd call it something like "CBS News+" to distinguish the national streaming feed from the TV network.

  10. Recall that Khemlani's charge was to cut costs across the division. It would not surprise me if this were a sly but effective tactic by CBS in Norah's contract renegotiation to suggest to her that she is dispensable, in an effort to counter her request for more money.

  11. But with everyone having wx apps on their phone which are more accurate for the temp thanks to location tracking etc, is time/temp really necessary on the screen? Or in the days of cleaner, simpler looks is it just clutter that can be jettisoned?

  12. You’re way too obsessed with the black/gold look at KD. Any future new O&O graphics will be standard on KD and not black/gold.

  13. I love this new look of the streaming network. The graphics look simple but great, the new music sounds amazing and the set looks fantastic (and the desk finally has a regular home). This whole new look is very well done and better than both ABC and NBC by far.

  14. Hopefully, we will see this graphics package transfer to the O&Os. I can't wait to see what the CBS eye could look like in the black and yellow KDKA-TV package. The New Streaming Station logos look good though. Here is CBS News Pittsburgh.

  17. Report: Brian Williams turns down CBS Evening News. Looks like the writing could be on the wall for Norah.

  18. WCSC’s current logo takes nod of their late 90s-early 2000 “LIVE5” logo that used Bell Gothic as the Font (as that was the font for CBS’ “Welcome Home III” campaign from 1998-99) THIS is what they had in 2008:
