  1. They should have just put Chris Jansing at 9AM. I personally don’t think The 11th Hour is the right time slot for Stephanie. I guess we’ll see what changes they’ll be making to fit her style. Not to mention Joe & Mika anchoring from a shared home studio in Florida (started before COVID) all while Willie sits there patiently waiting his turn. Can’t keep talking about doing News but then never do it…

  3. Sorry if I confused you all. Yes time and temp should be there between 7 AM and 9 AM. Not everyone is walking around with their phone constantly. It can be done right and not be obtrusive. The problem with WOIO is their current incarnation of their logo is too big on the right side of the screen. Time/temp can't fit with CBS Mornings new graphics.

  4. Yeah that logo was from the Raycom years...questionable graphics at times for sure..but a flat version of the 80's logo would really be a nice touch for 70 yrs. Great station, got a ton of experience as an intern there

  5. And prior to that, many years at WABC as a producer, executive producer and assistant ND. Great to see someone from inside who comes from a local news background take the reigns of the owned station group.

  6. MP King, a member of YouTube, uploaded a KSLA newscast close from 1984 which features a vocal tag at the end. You can view the news close starting at 0:05. But wait, there's more. Here is a KSLA news open from 1986 using the Jake Pittman theme which you can see at 3:39.

  7. Remember that I commented that I wished I could see how KPRC signed-off back in 1983? Well, here it is!

  9. WABC's President & General Manager Chad Matthews has been appointed as new President of the ABC Owned Television Stations. No word on who'll replace Matthews as GM of Channel 7.

  10. “Report: Jeff Zucker Recently Approached Gayle King About Hosting CNN’s 9 PM Hour.” I just can’t envision it, not at all. It really looks like CNN doesn’t know what to do with the 9PM hour. It would’ve been a good deal for Gayle as she could’ve lived closer to family apparently, but I’d rather have her at CBS. Jeff Zucker looks even more desperate. https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/report-jeff-zucker-recently-approached-gayle-king-about-hosting-cnns-9-pm-hour/499147/

  11. Here's a WRGB newscast from 1983, when it was a CBS affiliate. It uses the same theme as KOA-TV (now KCNC) in Denver and WNGE (now WKRN) in Nashville had around.

  13. Probably posted by Grey’s digital hub and likely not a sign of anything. ETA: They’re in breaking coverage right now for Sean Payton leaving and using the Raycom graphics.

  15. Recall that Khemlani's charge was to cut costs across the division. It would not surprise me if this were a sly but effective tactic by CBS in Norah's contract renegotiation to suggest to her that she is dispensable, in an effort to counter her request for more money.

  16. But with everyone having wx apps on their phone which are more accurate for the temp thanks to location tracking etc, is time/temp really necessary on the screen? Or in the days of cleaner, simpler looks is it just clutter that can be jettisoned?

  19. Love that they restored the footage quality. I like how dim the old lighting looks, everything in the HD era appears so washed out these days. Back to Today (1952) Im surprised news tickers were utilized this early into broadcast tv.

From NewsActive3; a January 1988 WTLV newscast in Jacksonville, with Harmon Wages on sports (Wages, a former Atlanta Falcons running back during the team's early years, had come back home to Jacksonville after his sportscasting career in Atlanta imploded following a 1985 cocaine bust) and a post-WCKT, pre-700 Club Lee Webb anchoring solo

  32. Longtime Colorado Sports Anchor Les Shapiro has entered hospice after an unsuccessful battle with cancer. Les had been Sports Director at at WEEK-TV, CBS 4 Denver, et. al. Having spent most of his career in beautiful Colorado, Les was a kind, humble man who loved his job, spending many more years on the radio than anything. Please keep his family in your thoughts during this challenging time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Shapiro

  33. Since CBS Mornings debut, there are new graphics but WOIO has no time/temp anymore. I would assume they need to get the chyron to reposition that to match the new graphics. Very annoying to watch when you want a quick look at the temperature. I guess they'll fix it just in time for CBS' new morning program retool in 2024.
