  1. With the severe weather that's been crisscrossing the southeast, another missed opportunity for NewsNation to prove it's worth. Case in point, as parts of New Orleans were being devastated by a violent tornado, WGNO was basically asleep at the wheel covering the weather and then going back into regular programming, while every other station in New Orleans was wall to wall with damage coverage. Meanwhile on NewsNation, the same old partisan drivel, trying to be another news channel. I turn on Sinclair's National Desk, and what are they covering....the storm!!!

  2. I was wondering myself it it was a green screen. Aside from the headlines, IMO Sunday Morning doesn't really need to be live because it's primarily feature pieces.

  4. Well, there are rumors that the O&Os will have a newscast at 9am, so they could extend the AM crew to 9am and perhaps have a new team at 12

  5. Looking at contours two LPs, plus WALA & WLOX, I don't think Gray wants to shut down WGUD. If anything, should that W31FB new app gets approved, plus the WGUD deal, I wouldn't be all that shocked if Gray move WGUD toward the west; either from WLOX tower, or a nearby tower so Biloxi & Gulfport viewers can see the signal. We'll see what happens. I almost forgot to mention that they also bought an LP in Huntsville (WMJN-LD), so they have now bought LPs in the four major markets in the state. ___________________________________ Gray has completed the transaction of 24 LPs formerly owned by Lowcountry Media on Tuesday (3/22). The deal was approved on Monday (3/21). The WKTB deal was also approved on Monday, but it has yet to close.

  7. Overnight coverage is originating from both NYC with Jane Minar and Orlando with Katie Garner. They are not using a control room and are instead just alternating "emergency override control" segments on their own. As a result, they can't appear on the same blocks together, so they're just alternating blocks. i.e. Jane hosts the A block; uses the touchscreen to end the override and head to break; Katie hosts the B block; goes to break; Jane hosts the C block, and so on. They have revamped the WOFL setup a bit, adding in a background. Also, despite still not having a proper wireless mic and IFB setup, at least now Katie has a bit more slack in her wires so that there's not the concern about moving too far from the wall and pulling a wire. The lighting may need a bit of work. The blue lighting is strongly casting on Katie's arm whenever she uses the touchscreen. They could probably turn that down a bit. She also has to turn off to the side and walk halfway off cam whenever she needs to manipulate something on the computer because they weren't able to get a podium with a computer set up in the on-camera area as of yet. Overall, kudos to them again for staying live all overnight. TWC ended coverage at 1 AM ET.

  8. Sinclair was absurdly blatant trying to “offload” WPIX to Cunningham and WGN-TV to a freaking car dealership not named Big Bill Hells. That’s the equivalent of trying to rob a bank holding a bowling ball with a glued-on string “fuse”. It was so outrageous that Ajit Pai couldn’t even defend it.

  11. Gray has been on the ball with acquiring these LPs. They're getting another one. And its in a college town. They're getting Tuscaloosa, AL's WJMY-LD from TTI, Inc. for $225K. ___________________________ I should also mention regarding Memphis, that WYMP-LD deal was completed last week. The question now is whether Gray will keep that signal at its current spot near the TN-MS border, or move the signal closer to Shelby County. That is going to be something to watch out for. But I feel something needs to be done in regards to WMC's signal woes. Your core viewers should be able to receive Channel 5 over the air. I know Gray is still pursuing to switch the full power signal to UHF. But I would file a new app to move that new LP to Shelby, and once its gets the greenlight, get that signal lit up quickly.
