  1. A bit of anchor shuffle at WMC in Memphis. You all know by now that Kontji Anthony will not extend her contract as weekday evening anchor at WMC. Her last day is set to be sometime in mid April. Current morning co-anchor Joy Redmond has been promoted to co-anchor the weekday 5, 6, and 10pm evening newscasts. Weekend evening and weekday reporter Arianna Poindexter will become the new morning anchor. Weekday nightside reporter Keli Cook will replace Arianna's role. https://dailymemphian.com/section/metro/article/27938/action-news-5-kontji-anthony-joy-redmond-kelli-cook-arianna-poindexter

  2. It's not WBZ she's going to. It's WJZ in Baltimore. And @24994J, here is a link for you: https://www.viacomcbspressexpress.com/cbs-news-and-stations/releases/view?id=59448

  3. The Gray looks are so bad that WVUE looks good in comparison. I watched them again recently when tornados came through NOLA. Those ancient Raycom graphics still look better than WBTV does after having been “Gray-ified.”

  4. Sure! And I know that Matt can do worlds better than that too.

  5. Now that I had all afternoon to think about, he's not a "shitty meteorologist" and I overreacted. He knows his stuff, I would like to see him improve in the areas I mentioned instead of complaining about him.

  6. I think your dislike of him is weirdly deep. I like him, well enough. Probably not the best we've ever seen, but I'd love for you to give me some hard evidence of how he's a "shitty" meteorologist. What in his basic scientific job performance is specifically "shitty"?

  7. Denise Polverine has left WKYC for a new position at Cleveland Magazine. She had been the Director Digital Strategy and Content at the station until recently.

  8. Weekend morning to clarify.

  9. Noon and 4pm anchor Christina Watkins has left WDSU for sister station WESH, where she will be morning anchor. She went to WESH to be closer to family; she is an Orlando native.

  10. In other news Mark Elliot is leaving the weather channel after 18 years.

  11. The Son of Ghoul website is still up, and it is on the WIVM quadcast. Meanwhile if Weigel keeps up Retro TV at this point like they are on WJLP solely so Luken/Get After It can't sue them when the contract expires, it's out of purely starving them out rather than an interest in 'helping' a competitor. And you know a music package (at least not like the faux-WGN PAMS style) is on its last legs if you're thinking 'are these singers even still alive?'

  12. New M&A for Weigel. They're getting an LP in Cleveland. They're acquiring W27EA-D from Media-Com Television, Inc. for $2.2M. Don't know why Weigel doesn't want to break the bank and try to snag WBNX. They run most of their diginets on that channel (WOIO carries MeTV).

  13. Realistically speaking, a graphics package isn’t going to make or break a station.

  14. That article was written in August 2020; two years later, there's been a new NFL deal. There might be a sale in the meantime, but until February 2033, you can count on the networks to stay on the air just for that alone.

  15. It is possibly time for new graphics. Going on at least 8 1/2 years. Plus yes, around the fall will be marking 30 years since NS2K+ came along and became the major and lifelong piece of Chicago news music history.

  16. I watched the video on another device. I can confirm that is News Series 2000+, and might signal that WLS will revive it if it gets new graphics. I also hope that WLS finds a replacement for Bill Ratner.

  17. So, with ABC expanding and enhancing the O&O's streaming utilities and offerings, WLS has debuted slower-paced, relaxed, and conversational newscasts at 7am and 7pm. Talent assignments haven't been announced for either hour, but Terrell and Tanja remain together til 7:30am, when Val Warner joins one of them (whoever is anchoring the GMA updates, that day). Tracy and Roz are around, too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGimVvDXQGc Meanwhile, Rob and Cheryl anchored at 7pm for the first 2 nights, while both were off on Friday, when Ravi and Judy sat in. As I said, the show is pretty laid back, which is a nice change of pace, but the real highlight is the open. Never mind that they screwed around with the pitch of Bill Ratner's voiceover, BUT CHECK OUT THE THEME. I have almost zero reason to believe the old theme is making a comeback, but someone over there had to put in the effort to dig this out of storage, so who knows? Please note that each video is set to either private or unlisted, and will remain that way until the station formally announces their existence. It's certainly not a national secret or something, but I'd rather both videos stay among this community, for now. I'd appreciate it.
