I think the gem of this article is: “As previously reported by The Post, O’Donnell’s predecessor Jeff Glor was making a modest $2 million.” So Jeff did it for $2M, they fired him, signed Norah for $8M for the same result, now have Norah at $3.8M. Seems like Jeff really got screwed.

I guess when you have a penny-pinching, micro-managing boss, an alleged narcissist as your chief anchor, and friction between the two, that doesn’t translate to high ratings or a good product. The relationship between O’Donnell and CBS News seems to be a marriage of convenience, and a dysfunctional one at that.

If CBS really considered putting Tony Dokoupil as the Evening News anchor, they're signaling that they never really do learn from their past mistakes.

The FCC is asking the parties for new information in regards to this transaction. From Bloomberg:

Imho, CBS screwed themselves more than they screwed Jeff. One can argue that Jeff somehow has the better end of the deal today. He works almost exclusively on Saturday mornings with a good cohort of people, and might even get another shot at the big chair down the road if/when CBS decides to fill its ranks with people who know what the hell they’re doing. In the meantime, he can sit comfortably knowing that he’s not involved with this current fiasco.

Paramount can deny it all they want but CBS was trying to replace Norah because Norah is terrible at doing the CBS Evening News. Ratings haven't been this bad since Dan Rather was at the network. Even Katie Couric had better ratings as the anchor then Norah has now. There is a reason why morale is at an all time low at CBS, it starts with Norah and ends with her too.

New President Chris Licht says he wants to cut down on using the "Breaking News" chyron. Personally, I support this completely.

Jen probably wasn't available to sub in this week as she was on assignment for a 2 stories that appeared on TINY and News at 4/5 during the week and today (Friday).

They just interspersed about 3 minutes of live coverage from WSVN into their coverage. Pleasantly surprised to see them taking video from a non-O&O. Thanks for going the extra mile to look up the model of TV. Yeah, that TV is laughable. Haven't seen them use it since yesterday afternoon. Maybe they realized how bad it looked on the air and are now rethinking their purchase.

In times of breaking news or severe weather, as has occurred this week, they usually run the full hour. I'm not sure if that's permanent or not, but I guess time will tell!

A channel filled with reruns may not work as well in today's age with on-demand streaming. The only ones that do well are the ones that are niche or are available OTA.

I'm starting to call foul on the network because I was watching yesterday and noticed that the second and third hours of America's Weather NOW, outside of a TOTH update, were bascially repeats but FOX Weather called it live on its bug when it really wasn't. Like, shit. I feel like I need to watch WeatherNation more and more as a result.

I figured the ex-Quincy stations would be next. As far as the ex-Meredith stations, they are similar enough that I suspect they will be retained until another Gray package comes along later.
