  1. Tony Awards. Hoping for more “eyes.”

  2. The Tony’s are for stage plays which is a vital part of NYC’s entertainment industry and economy. That might be why WCBS has their A team tonight even if other CBS stations don’t.

  3. It's pretty common for them to bring in the 'A' team during award shows (tonys, emmys, grammys). I was surprised they stuck with Jessica/Vanessa during the grammys recently and added in Dick Brennan instead of Maurice/Kristine/Lonnie/Otis, but it could have just been vacation time/availability issues

  4. Not a fan of those L3s... too many layers that look like they don't belong there.

  5. Makes sense.. Just saw a commercial that Kristine is interviewing the Tony Awards host during News at 11.

  6. I'm surprised that they didn't sell the license to one of the LPTV operators in Chicagoland. You'd think that somebody would want to buy it just to force their way on to cable.

  7. Here's a behind the scenes photo they showed today, in tribute to the director who is leaving. Really sad what the quality of this show has become.

  11. Fox Weather has been experimenting with completely dumping long-form from their weekend afternoon/evening schedule. After doing their preemption for PTC One last Saturday, programming last Sunday and both Saturday and Sunday this weekend has consisted solely of the "Fox Weather LIVE" automated loop of weather maps throughout the entirety of weekend afternoons and evenings. Edit: Looks like they're still doing long form on Sundays after 8pm ET. I suppose it's a sensible time for that sort of programming.

  12. There's only so much interest in watching a stuffy, boring local newscast. Action News worked for them and they were different from the rest. I don't understand the thinking of whoever the genius was who decided that they should go back to being a boring newscast like the other three instead of carving out their own niche.

  13. It would have value to one of the Christian broadcasters, but I think that you could get that converted fairly easily.

  14. The contract was originally awarded to Stun in 2019 (Yes, folks, sometimes graphics do take three years to develop).

  15. First weekend with the new look, and Phil Schwarz hasn't screwed up the logos...yet. I've gotten to know him, over the years, and I enjoy his work, but the logo and font distortion always puzzled me. He had to know that it wasn't right.

  16. Disclaimer: I'm only a viewer since Jerry Dunphy days (the 1960s) and , while I have a couple of friends who have worked at the duopoly, have no horse in the race. Suzanne Marques did a better anchoring job over the last four years than I thought she would, especially during trying times like the Thousand Oaks shooting, wildfires, and other calamities, which I guess are the litmus test of an L.A. anchor. I like Chris Holmstrom and figured he'd probably get a weekday job eventually, especially considering 2/9 has such a small staff. Marci Gonzalez has a pretty solid resume. Not to be harsh, but this is a newscast where talented people just make no impact, not that many people watch, they come and go, like Sibila Vargas. DeMarco Morgan is the latest. If Kent Shocknek couldn't budge the ratings in a dozen years, who might?... Pat Harvey is (deservedly in my opinion) the face of the station, but I wonder if she will ever have a real co-anchor again? is there a bigger role for Ross Palombo? (that's a lot of questions in a row I realize)

  17. I don't think Comcast/NBCU has EVER had a retransmission spat get into a dispute where channels are pulled. They simply say "Yes" and just tack on the fee to the customer. All we've seen is distant NBC affiliates getting pulled in favor of their O&Os.... Based on TVNewsCheck's Top 30 list for station groups, Tegna is now #3 behind Gray and ahead of Sinclair with only 51 stations, 39% actual and 32% FCC discounted reach, and $2.88 Billion in revenue. That outpaces Sinclair's $2.78B total but lags behind Gray's $3.3B. $1.5B of that is advertising, and the rest is retransmission. https://tvnewscheck.com/business/article/nexstar-still-no-1-gray-scripps-allen-busy-buyers/

  18. I'm not too fond of the tall/thin fonts... reminds me of what KOIN had used before they updated... the smaller that font gets, the harder it is to read.... I give it a meh...

  19. I process the cable bills for work, and Comcast charges $18.95 per month as a “broadcast TV Fee” - this is on top of the package to get cable channels. It’s ludicrous! At home, I have an antenna in the attic and get both DC and Baltimore locals - more than I’d get with cable… Jim

  20. Current 4p anchor Keith Garvin has been named main anchor at KPRC/Houston. He’s been with KPRC for 10 years and knows the market well. Keith will shift to the 5p, 6p and 10p shows, replacing Kris Gutierrez, who abruptly left a few months ago. No official word on who will take over at 4p, but I suspect current 11a and noon anchor Andy Cerota will add that show to his duties instead of reporting for the afternoon newscasts, like he does now. https://www.click2houston.com/news/local/2022/06/08/keith-garvin-named-anchor-of-kprc-2s-evening-and-late-newscasts/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=snd&utm_content=kprc2&fbclid=IwAR34kdsOEU0lwe-giDjxXQw1UE5th_-JOwP0KPiHbdztrZaVk53XSkAZGNs&fs=e&s=cl
