  1. Yesterday’s parade shooting in the Chicago area received coverage from the big cable networks, and of course from local stations like WGN. Per FTVLive, this was not the case at NewsNation. In the immediate hours after the shooting, their Twitter page posted a single article on the shooting that contained reporting from both WGN and the Chicago Sun-Times, but not from NewsNation itself. While WGN was live and on the air, NewsNation was showing the famous award-winning news program… Blue Bloods. They did not go live on air or update their digital content with their own reporting until much later. It should be emphasized that NewsNation is located in the same building as WGN. In Chicago. I think we can finally pronounce this thing dead. No need to give any more attention to a network that can’t take itself seriously enough to properly cover a story miles from where they’re located.

  2. I just want to note how grateful I am that the entire 10 crew that was down on the Ben Franklin Parkway, broadcasting the Wawa Welcome America concert and fireworks show, are all safe. Alot of the team was very close to where those gunshots were fired. Also the 2 officers that were hit were treated and released, and the 1, miraculously, had the bullet stop in his hat! Alot of the team had to shelter under the desk, stages, wherever they could find a safe place, then, in some cases, run for their own safety. I'm sure it's sometimes scary to have to cover these kind of potential tragic events, but when you're now part in it, I can't even imagine. So glad everyone involved is safe. (From the operational standpoint, I don't have any video of the transition from them showing the fireworks to the breaking news.)

  3. Sooner or later, the golden goose of trying to make something out of WGN America is going to dry up. Once the OTT providers start dropping it, it's toast. Even worse is when a network that is FREE over the internet and gets roughly twice the viewers as NN (NewsMax)... I'd be shocked if Nexstar succeeds in getting the CW and trying to put NN's content there....then again, no I wouldn't. I'd be curious to see how the WFLANow content does. It does a much better job of covering the news than NewsNation does....sort of a low-budget HLN before they became the "murder porn" channel and home of endless Forensic Files marathons....

  5. Other than the free preview in October 2020 and a handful of stations beginning to carry Morning in America and Early Morning, they foolishly have completely ignored broadcast.

  6. Couldn’t agree more @ThunderJay27 , NBC10 was amazing last night. Glad everyone at the station is ok. They finished airing the fireworks then went to a 30ish second promo for their storm ranger, then came back on for the breaking news with Keith & Tracy at the desk in studio live at 10:03PM, so they were on it right away. NBC10 stayed live til 12:35AM, and had the best coverage by far. Going to Jim & Jaqueline on the parkway and other reporters they already had in the area gave them the advantage over other stations who were left scrambling to send resources. Hearing the NBC10 reporters describe how they laid down on the stage, hid under a food truck, crawled under the platform and other stories of seeking shelter reminds us how dangerous this job can be, yet they continued to report and share essential information that kept people safe. Honestly, it was award worthy coverage in my opinion. I have a clip of them breaking in but the file is too big so I’ll figure something out.

  7. Steve Lacy and Lori Stokes have no chemistry as an anchor team. It's hard to watch. In fact, none of WNYW's anchors/anchor teams work. From anchors to reporters, they all seem inexperienced. They need to work on their delivery.

  8. And it’s a shame that neither WABC nor WSVN seemed to give any tribute to him whatsoever. Even KODE in Joplin noted his passing. Even if he didn’t leave WABC on the best of terms, the fact that they didn’t even acknowledge it online is neglectful at best and low at worst.

  9. Robb was playing 2nd string for lack of a better term and was passed over for Bill Ritter. So I get it. WFOR offered him a job and he took it. He also stated he felt that the anchors had no input on the broadcasts and he wanted to be more involved. That being said, this hurts. Robb Hanrahan always seemed like the most genuine male anchor WABC had during the 1990s and early 2000s. Bill Ritter's fine and professional and stuff, but I really loved Robb and the outpouring of support, you can tell how much he was loved. It sucked to see him retire after his literally to death experience and after all that to see him alive and healthy again, just to die < 24 months later, sucks. I'm going to miss him and I'm pretty sure all over New York, Miami and Harrisburg he will be eternally missed.

  10. I don’t know if it’s fair to make that assessment of all of the teams. I agree about Steve. I think being paired with Lori and falling flat shows that he only attributed to Dari’s issues. I personally enjoy Rosanna and Bianca. Dan and Tashanea have only been together for a couple of weeks. Weather and Traffic wise on Good Day with Mike and Ines - they have been with the team for at least 15 years each. Nick has been on for years. Audrey as well. I think it’s a strong team. Reporter wise, they are younger - but even some young talent like Teresa Priolo, Robert Moses have over 10 years with the station.

  11. Agreed. As I've said before Lacey delivers like the kid who got picked to read in class and didn't want to. He rushes through sentences with no emotion at all. I get that Fox 5 News tries to fit as much stories into the first 10 minutes of the 10:00 news in a fast paced format, but his cadence lacks. Times have evolved but Reporters from the 60s-80s were really good at rythmic but straightforward delivery. None of Fox 5's news teams-- or newscast for that matter-- really stand out. The one thing I'll give the station is that they are really good at covering urban, hip hop, and West Indian communities.

  12. I would be surprised if WMYT added it at this point, can’t see Nexstar wanting it to compete with Queen City News Now.
