  1. Everything is pointing to CBS using these DFW-hub produced newscasts as what will subsume all the existing brands. (NewscastStudio isn’t exactly a reliable source, tbh, I could barely read what Michael Hill wrote.) Outside of WCCO, KCNC, WJZ and KDKA, the CBS O&Os are laggards. WFOR, KYW-TV and WBBM have nothing to lose by becoming CBS News Miami, CBS News Philadelphia and CBS News Chicago, respectively. Ditch the current number and call letter brands and Enforcer, too. Besides, it’s all but confirmed that WWJ-TV will be rebranding as CBS Detroit/CBS News Detroit when their news operation launches.

  2. Robb was playing 2nd string for lack of a better term and was passed over for Bill Ritter. So I get it. WFOR offered him a job and he took it. He also stated he felt that the anchors had no input on the broadcasts and he wanted to be more involved. That being said, this hurts. Robb Hanrahan always seemed like the most genuine male anchor WABC had during the 1990s and early 2000s. Bill Ritter's fine and professional and stuff, but I really loved Robb and the outpouring of support, you can tell how much he was loved. It sucked to see him retire after his literally to death experience and after all that to see him alive and healthy again, just to die < 24 months later, sucks. I'm going to miss him and I'm pretty sure all over New York, Miami and Harrisburg he will be eternally missed.

  3. WTOK (and the Meridian, MS market) is finally getting a midday newscast! Their only competition is WMDN/WGBC which only puts out a 6 and 10pm newscast, as well as a 9pm on WGBC's Fox station. All former Waypoint stations, so these are produced from afar. At least Coastal Television hasn't put their mark on these stations....yet.

  4. No because... competition. WHDH is on at both 9 and 10pm. Why not keep WBZ's traditional news on WSBK at 8pm and have the experiment on at 10pm.

  5. Well that sucks. Hoping Rob can get the privacy and his family can have the privacy they need and that he can return to the GMA team when he’s ready.

  6. These graphics are so clean and sleek. WABC needs them ASAP. WABC quite frankly has the worst graphical presentation of all the O&Os. KGO and KABC look the best IMO.

  7. I think part of GMA's strength is that it's just two hours (consecutively) and not long and drawn out like 'Today'. I wish their NBC counterpart would just cut it to two hours. As much just disdain as I have for the news quality of GMA, they do occasionally have some good lifestyle and out of studio segments compared to Today. Plus their anchor team is stronger than Today's. Amy and TJ are also solid fill-ins and future anchors.

  8. My prediction is that the sun/cloud icons will eventually be made bigger and placed in a more traditional location, while also maintaining the photography in each day's background. Otherwise I think it takes a little more time for viewers to decipher the seven-day.

  9. I will say the EWN team has been tributing him on Twitter and Facebook, but yes, the lack of an on-air tribute is disappointing. WCBS (and Dana Tyler) gave Michele Marsh one.

  10. In my opinion, If Nexstar has enough money to buy the debt caused by The CW, They have enough money to buy out the syndication rights to stop airing "In The Heat Of The Night"/others and air continuous news like every other NEWS network does. Nexstar needs to stop making excuses for moving people to digital and actually get serious about Breaking News because If they don't, Not only will others surpass them, but no one would want to buy NewsNation if Nexstar ever wants to sell it. This is a massive failure from every side imaginable and the person to blame is Perry Sook and his sky high retransmission fees/greed.

  11. And it’s a shame that neither WABC nor WSVN seemed to give any tribute to him whatsoever. Even KODE in Joplin noted his passing. Even if he didn’t leave WABC on the best of terms, the fact that they didn’t even acknowledge it online is neglectful at best and low at worst.

  12. Personally really liked the WLS graphics of the last several years, really easy to read from couch distance, nice dimension to them. 'Instant classic.' I know others prefer the flat mobile / tablet screen look but it's not my thing. The blurred skyline background is pretty though. Reminds me of the KTVU late 90s look.

  14. From WJZ in Baltimore, Jan. 2, 1995, on the day of the network switch in Charm City (WJZ now with CBS, WBAL back with NBC [11 had moved to CBS in 1981, as I remember it, but came back to NBC here], and WMAR now with ABC): a fun and informative deep dive into why this switch was made, and how it affected mostly where viewers would see their favorite shows; look at the 20:29 mark for a BTS shot that is hardly ever seen, and that is on 60 Minutes, where we see what the correspondent looks at (here, the late Ed Bradley) when he or she sits in front of that simulated magazine backdrop (the correspondent sees an image of himself/herself in front of the simulated magazine backdrop, and there are lights around and a small table in front of him/her); 60 Minutes would of course be at 13, where it still is today.

  15. Former WABC anchor Robb Hanrahan passed away. Never understood why WABC decided to let him go. Former CBS 21 News anchor Robb Hanrahan passes away | WHP (local21news.com)
