  1. This is getting confusing - the two Chucks - Scarborough (WNBC) and Henry (KNBC)!

  2. Crazy, was thinking about this today. I was having a discussion with a family member — who retired early — and is very big on people of a certain age calling it quits to enjoy retirement. The way I see it, when you love and are passionate about a career, you aren't rushing to leave. All things considered, when one retires, what is there to do at home? Chuck aside, in the average citizen's case, retirement often means sitting at home, watching daytime television, and waiting for the eventual. Especially if their family doesn't live close and their friends aren't in good health or have passed, going to work is what gives many of the elderly the drive to keep going. In Chuck's case, I'm sure he has decent wealth to travel and live well. We aren't privy to his personal life, so I'll guess that he really just loves his job. It pays well, isn't physically taxing, and simply requires him to sit and read a pre written script for about 22 minutes excluding commercials. Plus, Chuck's usually on about 3 out of 5 nights a week. As long as he remains in good health and isn't demanding any dramatic salary increases, lets see how long he can go for.

  3. So that's what Sue Simmons was asking when she wondered what 'the f**k you doing?!'.

  4. There was a fire in 30 Rock this morning, sometime between 4:30 and 6:30am. I recorded TINY at 6:30, and they started with the NBC Early Today show, but then Michael Gargiulo came back on and said that there had been a fire alarm that went off elsewhere in the building, and they had to be evacuated.

  5. Apparently there’s a new Michaela Pereira-fronted talk show from PPI in the works.

  6. I think he's going for the world record as an anchor. That's why he's sticking around

  7. Dana anchored last night (Sunday) as well. I liked Dana's and Kristine's interactions tonight. Dana and Dick did the 6.

  8. My first thought was...Good lord!! Between the illness/death of Chris Bradley four years ago this month, and then the Mike Davis scandal and now this...another sign that the once-mighty 10TV has fallen on hard times. We might need to hold a séance and reach out to the legendary "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes so he can cut a new version of his classic promo just for them...

  9. I thought maybe because she had kids back-to back. They should get Jeff Booth back. I'm loving this- how the mighty has fallen at Twin Rivers Dr.

  11. I might've just never noticed before; but Dana and Kristine is the 5pm team tonight; I don't recall the last time they anchored together despite them being on different shifts every night

  12. Very nice tribute! Side note: It amazes me that even people who work in TV sometimes shoot vertical videos with their phones for TV.

  13. At This Hour is still using the old New Day studio (and possibly also so is CNNI's Quest Means Business?), so I don't think that's going to be where CNN This Morning goes. Because the newsroom stopped being used shortly before CNN This Morning premiered, it's my guess that this will be for the mornings. They did have multiple sets built for CNN+ (I believe the temporary CNN This Morning one is one of them) so it's always possible one of those may be reworked

  14. When they did the prime time special, Rick quickly mentioned that Monica had retired. This isn’t the case since she’s now a reporter at Nasdaq so it feels like that something negative happened between her and 6. Yes, she got a farewell mention but it seemed small considering she had been at the station for a long time and had become a popular household name.

  15. I've been looking at the news reports about the acquisition, and I've noticed that a few motorsports reporters (like this one) are surprisingly optimistic about the move, saying it could boost IndyCar ratings - as if that was even why The CW bought it in the first place. Let's face it, this deal exists because Nexstar is cheap and Penske was desperate.

  16. I can't explain the decision to bench them anymore than anyone else, but this went all the way to the level of Bob Iger, who's now back as Disney's CEO, so it was not made with haste. I'm certain they consulted with PR & Public Affairs, and knew the likelihood of external media attention. As I've previously said, I agree that relationships between non-subordinate colleagues are private matters so long as they don't become workplace matters. Godwin acknowledged that their behavior (as it is currently known) did not violate any policies. Still, it sounds like this became a serious workplace distraction once the affair was brought to light which is itself an issue executives must deal with as well. Moreover, Holmes and Robach surely had to meet with HR, Godwin, and perhaps others at the company, all of which is time consuming and distracting if you're also preparing for and hosting a show the same day. There may also be more to the story that we don't know, and the decision to bench for a few days may have also been a "warning shot" to Robach and Holmes to mind their behavior. All in all, many possibilities, but ABC is not the JV team and I'm willing to believe there was a fair rationale for the decision. They were not terminated. It would not surprise me to see them back on air on Monday.

  17. That's IndyCar racing not NASCAR. In any event, glad Nexstar is at least going outside the box.........

  21. This won’t be an “overnight” change like in 1986 - as that change was a complete overhaul of the logo and IIRC, it took effect immediately. this one, like the ABC logo update, is small enough that both variations will probably be floating around for years… Jim

  22. Could their minimum wage ($18 an hour) be causing some problems? That may be a high hurdle in places where the cost of living is dirt cheap. Then again, I know people in the industry who've been working 10-15 years and STILL don't make that much...
