These (rather blurry) pictures look to be more legit. *If* these are real, they don’t look that bad to me. They’re not the best looking sports graphics I’ve ever seen, but I don’t know if I’d call them “divisive.”3 points

@ShepSmithIsGod on the Discord (who has seen the graphics and the adjustments made to them) says that leak is fake.3 points

Do viewers think that because the logo is read like the way it is, it's meant to be said that way? I guess then YouTube should actually be called “Play YouTube”, the upcoming Super Bowl should be called “L-V-I-I Super Bowl”, and FedEx should be called “Fed-Arrow-Ex”. Now, I'm not saying no. Obviously, there's wordmarks on logos to help people know what it is called. Heck, there's even some logos without the wordmark, so it may be hard to tell what is it called, unless they are so popular you don't even need the wordmark. But I'm also saying some logos can include symbols that are meant to be there that includes words, but it's not meant to be said with the brand. So I'm pretty sure that what we're seeing in some of these new CBS News local logos are station symbols, because as I stated a time ago, CBS is researching which brand is more popular, which station should ditch the channel number, etc. I guess the stations that want to keep the channel numbers, this may be the route for their news counterparts.2 points

Hulu has turned into a bit of albatross for Disney. Trying to program it and Disney+ is just too expensive. Plus, not selling/licensing films, shows, etc.. to others and keeping everything in house isn’t generating $$$. Can’t see anyone jumping at the chance to buy Hulu that already owns their own streaming service.2 points

Likely better than what TEGNA would’ve built from scratch, for sure.2 points

It’s WJZ. Maryland’s News Station. (even though the logo reads as “CBS 13 WJZ”)1 point

I could see Comcast/NBCUniversal looking at purchasing and merging Peacock into Hulu.1 point

Taking this with a grain of salt because this image looks off... Why would the down indicator be that small, unless this was captured mid-animation? Where's the timeouts? It looks like something you'd see on a kitschy preseason broadcast. In fact, the Steelers pretty much did this exact design earlier not too badly.1 point

Interesting concept Licht is reportedly pursuing with a different show hosted by a big name each weeknight (a la network primetime, where you have a different TV show each night in the same slot). Would also make sense in the context of an offer for Gayle King to host a show once a week. A single host in primetime hasn't worked despite multiple attempts, so can't fault him for trying something (very) different.1 point

Oh well. Looks like KDKA will indeed completely get rid of its channel reference. My only complaint about WWJ is its opening, I wish they would show more Detroit landmarks in the News opening. I love the graphics but the opening is way too generic. Also. talked sigh someone from WWJ and it looks like the morning newscasts will debut within a couple weeks.1 point

my 2 cents, I think it's fine really, no need to bring it out of proportions, but speaking of proportions the ABC logo could be smaller1 point

Same with KDKA. Hell, I don’t think they’ve ever used the “2” verbally since maybe the 90s. I would say it’s a Group W thing, but KYW hasn’t used its call letters in a long time.1 point

So far the CBS stations to get rid of its channel reference: KCBS KPIX WWJ KDKA (coming soon) Expected: WJZ KYW (possible) Won’t: WCBS WBBM WBZ It looks like KDKA doesn’t want to totally get rid of its channel reference, if that anchor desk is any indicator.1 point

Most likely a transitional logo not to confuse anyone with the OTHER WBZ that iHeart owns. Plus WBZ-TV doesn’t even use “4” in the branding verbally, they only go by “WBZ” and have for over a decade.1 point

There’s one nugget in Scotty’s post which makes me believe this “source” is in fact a CBS executive intentionally leaking this to make Perry look bad: You notice something’s missing here? Nowhere does it say that CBS wants to disaffiliate their CW stations over LIV, they just don’t want to air it because of an obvious conflict of interest with their PGA deal. Pretty clear-cut issue, doncha think? This is making me wonder if Perry, or a Perry surrogate, started a “could CBS dump the CW over LIV?” rumor… fed it to Scotty, and Scotty ran the story because he doesn’t engage in critical thinking. I do think that Nexstar legitimately made a threat to disaffiliate his stations from CBS, but that’s more him holding a grudge over the network yanking their affiliation from WJMN and putting it on the .2 of a heretofore diginet tree.1 point

Looks like WBZ isn’t getting rid of its channel reference. Just saw a promo for CBS News Boston and the CBS 4 WBZ logo was in a box, next ti the CBS News Boston logo.1 point

Independent based on what??? Where/why are you getting the impression that WDIV is in a bad place with NBC? People are leaving stations all over the country, in droves. Yes, some operations are getting hit harder than others, but this is a problem for the whole industry.1 point

This doesn’t look like ‘change’ to me. It still looks like an American parody news outlet from the mid-2000s, to be honest1 point

...to "Paramount+ with Showtime". The suits say it's all about streaming. The New York Times has the details.0 points

Of note, the streamer is ALSO being renamed "Paramount+ with Showtime".0 points

Opening is way too generic imo, they need to show shots of Metro Detroit. Also, Kris Laudien is new to the station. He came from KARE tv.0 points

https://www.si.com/media/2023/02/10/charles-barkley-courted-cnn-primetime-news-show-report On its face, it may seem outlandish for CNN to use Charles Barkley in its weekday primetime lineup, but I feel that he has a strong ability (even over Gayle King) to be a ratings draw long term for the network, though.0 points

YIKES! So, at 5:00 p.m. out of 50,000 adults, 13,000 of them are age 25 to 54. That means 37,000 of them are old geezers (as consumer spenders, that is). At 6:00 p.m., out of 67,000 people, 17,000 are age 25 to 54. The remaining 50,000 are old geezers. Yikes again!0 points

No big loss. Never cared for his presentation. Seems to be going downhill in market size. Went from NYC to Philly, and now to DC.0 points
