  2. CNN should have just cut their Don Lemon losses in the beginning and kept Robin Meade

  3. Tucker and Lemon both out. Merry Christmas, everyone. And a Happy Hanukkah too.

  5. Of course, all you lefties and rinos cheer, but here's what people on the other side are thinking. We know what really happened. Why wouldn't we when Fox has proven itself just to be another propaganda outlet for the military industrial state?

  6. I can’t echo this enough. I know people weren’t always a fan of her style but Robin and MXP had two things CNN will never have in the morning, consistency and friendship, which brought in a core group of viewers everyday and when the show was properly promoted they had expanded viewership. I expect CNN to find an out of network replacement for Don. Maybe someone from CBS since Chris Litch knows everyone there?

  9. So you're saying they shouldn't have given Lemon aid and served Meade instead. Bad jokes aside, he will not be missed at all.

  10. What a massive earthquake in cable news today.

  11. "“If it could happen to us it could, happen to anybody,” Kim said." It did. To Sinclair when trying to buy Tribune. Not the exact same with a hearing involved, but it isn't the first time a deal has died. "“I think that control over news is something that U,S, citizens should not allow the government to have." But that's not what the FCC is doing? They're not telling any local station what news to cover and how. If they were, they would've stopped that Sinclair "this is a threat to our democracy" crap from a several years back. "Sometimes — against the advice of his lawyers and lobbyists..." So he's a headache not just to the FCC, but even to his own lawyers and lobbyists. Sounds like a bad client. I wonder if those folks are almost glad the deal will die so they don't have to deal with him anymore.

  12. Shoot, I've been thinking every time CNN did a reboot of their morning program, just move Morning Express over to the mothership from HLN.

  13. I agree that they should've kept Robin. Morning Express tended to do better in the ratings than any of CNN"s morning shows for at least a decade. Robin and her staff all had great chemistry together and Morning Express has always had a loyal following.

  14. The MAGA crowd is mad right now, they are saying "Done with Fox". I wonder how many will actually jump to Newsmax or OAN, or farther to the fringes?

  15. That was downright gross, if any of us spoke that way to someone in our workplace we’d be fired, it’s becoming increasingly obvious and will only get more obvious that this was a long overdue decision. I feel bad for what Poppy & Kaitlan have had to endure for the last 6 months. This is the “why the f**k did I take this job” face, my favorite part was her unlocking her phone, completely checked out from what was going on.

  20. I posted this in the Discord, but I think that will happen within the next year or so, possibly sooner. It wouldn't shock me if discussions between Lemon and Nexstar happen in the near future, if they aren't already...

  21. Didn't expect this two for one special today. This is just the tip, cable news needs further purging. I'm not finding CNN announcing Lemon's departure, and I'm not finding fox announcing Carlson's ouster.

  23. Wrong. You did NOTHING to solve any of the complications, Mr. Kim. This was a hostile takeover with the help of another company who is *already in* some of these markets, and helped by foreign money.

  26. Something I'd like to know-- do you think the new titling of the news on the CBS O&Os reminds you somewhat of when Sunday Morning used to have that panel of places around the world where CBS News has had bureaus (which said "CBS News Rome," "CBS News Nairobi" and "CBS News Johannesburg", among others) above a TV monitor at which Charles Kuralt sat when he was speaking to another CBS News correspondent-- to wit, this?

  29. One example was in 2020 during the pandemic, when Andrew Cuomo and Cnris Cuomo swapped stories during a press conference. Bill basically waxed poetic about the whole thing and said something along the lines of “I wonder what their father would think.” I don’t have as much of a problem w/ that if you slap on a “Bill Ritter: Commentary” lower third, but that wasn’t present. As it turned out, the governor was less than truthful about NY’s COVID death count, and Chris would be fired from CNN for actively aiding his brother while working as a journalist. I know that Bill wasn’t aware of what both Cuomo brothers were doing, nor do I blame him for their actions. I also have nothing against Bill personally; he does a good job as an anchor, and perhaps I’m admittedly being a little pedantic about this and am judging with the benefit of hindsight re: the Cuomos. However, I still believe that what should’ve been healthy scrutiny on Bill’s part was substituted for nostalgia for Mario Cuomo. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/chris-cuomo-crashes-governor-cuomos-173839115.html That’s still a separate segment from the rest of the newscast though, and the signature at the bottom of the screen was the indicator that it was a commentary. To be fair, there is no specific “Commentary” or “Editorial” label, but perhaps the station didn’t think it was warranted due to the brevity of the segment.

  30. I will say that wasn't the case until really late. Even by 1995 they still were just "Finally tonight" on a shot of Bill Beutel.

  32. Jon Stewart clearly has his biases but he usually presents a fair arguement and this was no exception. He displayed how the right wing media takes overblown talking points and perfectly executes them into national movements and conversations. Conversely, he showed that the admittedly left leaning mainstream news media (and further left CNN and MSNBC) idealize themselves as the "seeking truth to power" alternative, but poorly execute that mission. He used CNN and MSNBC's over coverage of the Mueller Report --- which resulted in nothing --- as evidence. He even took a jab at his own streamer Apple Tv. This was a pretty good analysis, finding that even though Fox News gets most of the heat, MSNBC, CNN (and to a lesser extent the big three) all have their isssues.

  33. If I had to guess, Jessie Waters gets the 8pm and Harris Faulkner takes over 7pm. Also possible that Ingraham moves to 8pm. I don't see them rocking the boat too much on this.

  34. CNN.com has the Lemon announcement posted just below the Carlson one. Not sure if they initially posted the video with John King announcing Don’s departure (John was clearly taken aback by the news), but the current clip has Pamela Brown making the announcement. FoxNews.com posted the official video clip (with Harris Faulkner) announcing Carlson’s departure. Of course, you have to dig around the site to find it….

  37. I thought that there was going to be a settlement Fox can write off some of the settlement as well, it was really how much Fox was willing to fight they thought better to settle than fight it which was much cheaper to settle than fight it. I still believe that Fox didn't defame Dominion or Smartics either which looks like that doesn't go to the courts until 2025 which Fox settles as well in my opinion.

  38. And, apparently KOB has dropped the Eyewitness News branding after 29 years, leaving WBRE as the only NBC affiliate left that uses the brand.
