  1. Well its a dawn of brand new day at WBBH. Hearst completed its acquisition of the station yesterday (6/30). The now-former owners slipped a goodbye message to its Southwest Florida viewers. Bye-Bye Waterman. RIP Bernie.

  2. I don’t know why stations think it’s taboo or something. It was commonplace back in the day. KYW did it earlier in the week too.

  3. No more newscasts. Please. It will just be rehashed packages and VO/SOTs from the morning news. EDIT: I say this also because in some markets, news directors will expect "one man band" multimedia journalists to switch up their packages for multiple newscasts.

  4. Even this temporary set looks better than what WNBC has. Well lit, smooth, not too washed out. EDIT: This is a tired discussion but John Elliott belongs on the weekdays again, especially doing feature segments for the 9am. Give Cindy Hsu the noon as well.

  5. Dave is only filling in. I do believe they did this during the holiday's before. Don't remember if it was this past holiday or the year before.

  6. WCBS made another interesting anchor decision this morning- teamed 2 male anchors together (Doug Williams with Dave Carlin). I believe the only other NYC station to do this was WNYW a few years ago? Interesting how 2 women anchors are so commonplace and 2 males are incredibly rare, at least in the NY market.

  7. Exactly!!! It almost seems like current events go out of their way to occur during daytime soap broadcast times, lol. GH gets pre-empted heavily! Someone made this obvious statement but it stings. We really went from FREE quality television giving us 24 episodes a season, to a paid model scattered across streaming services (with eight to 10 episodes having long breaks between seasons) plus the cost of internet. Despite the modern advantages, it almost feels like we've regressed.

  8. Let's not forget Lonnie Quinn was a soap opera actor on All My Children before he went on to be a weathercaster at WTVJ and currently CBS 2 (WCBS) New York.

  9. A lot of continuous reading I would assume. Maybe even prefering the vibe and energy of having an on air partner.

  10. I see that too, which is funny in hindsight, considering HLN’s shift away from news.

  11. He is their media reporter writing for their media newsletter. He thought he was being clever tying the bolder font with a bolder direction. Perhaps you disagree. It's not just "some Trump tape from 2021." It is audio of the former president of the United States, currently under federal indictment, admitting that a document he was so cavalierly showing off to a writer was classified and that he could no longer declassify it. It completely blows up each of his public defenses since last August. Yes, it is news, and MSNBC led with it last night at 9. And don't worry, CNN devoted much coverage to Russia as well. The fact that it's from 2021 does not make it any less newsworthy. Hearing the former president say this stuff, instead of just reading transcripts, is rather incredible, and gives new insight into his tone and the tone of those around him. Any news organization wishes they had obtained this.

  12. It was one paragraph in a twelve paragraph article.

  13. Just saw this license to cover, but apparently (since the end of last month) KTUL has lit up RF 14. The station has reminded viewers to rescan today (6/27). That means that grace period for keeping VHF 10 on will end today. Staying with Sinclair, Nebraska's KHGI is a step closer to lighting up its UHF 18 signal. They recently installed its new antenna.

  14. As an aside, HLN has updated its logo. In use on-air, not on their socials. And maybe a new tagline: "We play favorites".

  15. Watters may be the dumbest and most lightweight host Fox has (and that's saying a lot).

  16. It's been a minute. But two new petitions today. One, Gray has filed a petition to switch another one of its newly-acquired stations from last year's auction from VHF to UHF. KWNV in Winnemucca, NV is vacating VHF 7 for UHF 16. Previously, Gray filed to switch its Yuma signal from VHF 11 to UHF 27. The other, NPG has filed to switch Idaho Falls station KIFI from VHF 8 to UHF 18.

  18. WNBC News 4 New York just reported that longtime former WNBC meteorologist, Dr. Frank Field has died. He was 100 years old. It was announced on tonight’s 6pm newscast. It was a great tribute reported by Chuck Scarborough. I’d include a link, but doing a quick search I couldn’t find anything; not even on nbcnewyork.com!

  20. So with Rachael Ray leaving, what is the likelihood of WABC and WPVI moving GH back to 2:00 and either adding a 3:00 newscast, or adding a 10:00 AM newscast with Tamron Hall moving to 2:00 or 3:00?
