  1. That said, Matrix Midwest is essentially a repackaging of KMOV’s existing MyNetworkTV subchannel, just with additional sports content being folded into the schedule. According to RabbitEars and based on other listings sites (like OnTVTonight) that still show the previous channel layout for both stations, Gray remapped KMOV-DT2 (now branded as Matrix) to 32.1, previously assigned to the main channel of low-power sister station KDTL-LD (which still uses 32.x for its Corner Store TV and Outlaw subchannels). KMOV’s First Alert Weather Now subchannel was moved from 4.5 to 4.2, while KDTL now hosts KMOV’s The 365 sub (mapped as 4.5).

  4. The ticker looks great. I also like the extended forecast graphic, which is less cluttered than its previous version. That is perfect for WDSU.

  5. Exactly- I would think Maurice would at least give up the 5pm to prepare for the evening news. That would be the perfect place for Cindy if they went that route, or Dick Brennan if they wanted to (re) promote him.

  6. Cindy Hsu and John Elliott were given a chance to briefly thank viewers for tuning in at 9 a.m. the last two years. Sounds like the entire show is ending and will not continue on streaming, even though they made it a point to add live news in the 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. hours in the past year. It appears Cindy will be the noon anchor. For the last year or so (probably more), Chris and Mary would alternate anchoring solo, and often anyone filling in in the morning would be given the noon duties that day. It'll be nice having a set anchor there again. Just stinks to lose the 9 a.m. show. It was built around Cindy's personality and being positive and helpful. Now I wonder if the "Start With Kindness" tips will stay. I hope so.

  7. It seems more like a compromise. Brand the station as FOX to satisfy the network and the longtime viewers used to "Fox 6" ingrained in their heads. Otherwise, play out the WBRC 6 heritage in the new branding to let Gray do their "local first" thing.... They've always done a great job of branding with the red WBRC, tied to their visible sign on their building on Red Mountain. Working the old "6" in there is even better.

  9. WBRC is lucky that they can trade on their heritage since they've been a dominant station throughout their existence. Others like Fox 8 in New Orleans, Fox 10 in Mobile, and especially Fox Carolina are going to be interesting to see how they re-brand without "FOX" in their name.

  10. It was the logo WBRC once used as an ABC affiliate & for a short time when it switched to FOX thanks to the New World mass affiliation switch across many markets after FOX got the NFL in 1994. The '13' in the FOX 13 logo of O&O WTVT (Tampa) is another example of this predating it's time with FOX by a few years as a CBS affiliate.

  11. I feel like the weather channel needs an entire new graphics and icons package! The refresh feels like a mash of old HD look and 2013 look together!

  13. You gotta feel for the WGNO Sports department. First, it was him. Now, it's longtime sports producer Mark Deane who passed away as well, killed in an awful tragic motorcycle accident. https://awfulannouncing.com/local-networks/mark-deane-wgno-sports-producer-passes-away.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=bluesky
