  1. Keep your eyes peeled on WHEC-TV Rochester. There could be a new look coming to them shortly. No, its not on the air yet, but they have already debuted a new logo that appears online. Its their first new logo in 20 years.

  2. I know Ravi was probably having flashbacks to another incident that happened live on-air years ago at the State Street Studio.

  3. If you mean what's shown throughout the ad, I think that IS the old set and the promo is acting in a way to show a "We're moving out of the old place" kind of thing. Still, very excited to see it, and if we get new graphics as well! This time of year, after Labor Day, can almost be like Christmas for us into the industry, so happy to know that we'll know at least get this new set!

  4. Its baffling how obviously clueless network news brass seems to be these days! Totally agree. American audiences are very insulated from global affairs because we lack international news coverage outside of a few countries. I wish more day parts on CNN were devoted to CNN-I simulcasts to differentiate itself from non stop politics on FNC and MSNBC. Like I've said before, CNN International would be a better use of HLN's basic cable space.

  5. Nothing wrong with a bit of Quest! The man is a legend. I'm surprised domestic doesn't make more of Amanpour. She's been with CNN more or less since the start and they could make a big deal out of that. As for First Move... what a waste. An Asian breakfast show that runs Tuesday to Saturday (Hong Kong time)... just whom does that serve? It's such an awkward show, both the timeslot and the content. And I think it's a waste of Julia Chatterley's talents - she knows financial news inside and out, whereas I don't think general news really suits her. Put her back on at 9am ET and make it a proper business show again. If CNN really wanted to push the boat out, they could even give her a co-host in London, a bit like the old World Business Today. I don't think Kasie is at all suited to the early morning show. I get why she's there (the show is obviously aimed at political junkies) but I don't think either she or the format really work at that time in the morning. There was nothing wrong with Poppy and Phil. I think in 6-12 months CNN will throw in the towel and bring back a proper breakfast show. New Day Mk II, anyone? You might remember, about 15-20 years ago, when CNN used to show an hour of Your World Today from CNNI every weekday? Something like that might be good again, to break up all the US news and political talk in the schedule. RE: the UK election - CNNI did a special marathon broadcast (which was actually very good) and I think it was also streamed on CNN Max. I wouldn't be completely surprised if, 5 years from now, CNN, CNNI and CNN Max all merge into one channel, shown in the US and around the world. I can't see CNN, certainly the domestic channel, lasting too much longer in its current form. I don't know if the cable companies will want to keep paying for CNN if a) ratings keep falling and b) they keep streaming parts of it on Max. Who knows, a merged CNN could even be a good thing, if they covered a lot more international news than they do now.

  6. The SEC on ABC will use a revamped version of the early 2000s ESPN College Football theme. Turns out that new scorebug, graphics and music are exclusive to the SEC; all other coverage will continue using the existing 2020 graphics and music.

  7. Here's how Houston's syndicated offerings will look like starting September 9: KPRC (NBC): Other than the station recently picking up "The Drew Barrymore Show" at 10am in the daytime and 2am in the overnight, no further changes. KHOU (CBS): "Dateline" replaces "Daily Blast Live" at 3pm, with more paid programming replacing one of DBL's half-hour repeats following "After Midnight". KTRK (ABC): No changes KTXH (MNTV): This is where "GMFB: Overtime" will be airing on, at 11am in the midday hours. "48 Hours" moves up an hour later, at 12pm. "Mathis Court" is added to the station's court show block, at 3pm, followed by "True Crime News" at 3:30pm. Channel 20's game show block gets even larger with the station picking up "Person, Place or Thing" in between two airings of "People Puzzler", followed by "25 Words or Less" at 5:30pm, "Pictionary" at 6pm, and the new game show "Flip Side" at 6:30pm. As compensation, the airings of Steve Harvey's "Family Feud" are cut down to 2 hours, from 7-9pm. Strangely, "Dateline" remains on 20, even with Channel 11 picking it up as well, moving to 9pm. "Extra", "Dish Nation", "TMZ", and "Access Hollywood" will make up the station's night-time newsmagazine block from 10pm-12am. More runs of 25WOL and "Divorce Court" replace the Fox Soul show "Portia" at 2am and 2:30am respectively, while a repeat of "True Crime News" will air at 3am, replacing "People Puzzler". KRIV (Fox): A new local talk show entitled "Chattin' with Chelsea", hosted by Chelsea Edwards, has already debuted on Fox 26, replacing "Extra" in the 12:30pm timeslot. The Xploration E/I shows start airing at 1pm on September 9, although I'm not sure if this move is permanent or temporary. A political debate show called "Battleground" has been airing after the station's 6pm news as of this writing, I'll give you information on what will replace it once the election passes by. In the 12am timeslot is a "Chattin' with Chelsea" rerun and "Fox Soul Faceoff", while a rerun of "The Jennifer Hudson Show" has already moved up to 1am as of this writing, and "Family Feud" and "Person, Place or Thing" make up the 2am overnight timeslot. KIAH (The CW): Other than the station moving their daytime talk show block 2 hours earlier (which I already mentioned in this thread), there are many other changes. "The People's Court" reruns move to 1pm, followed by a double-run of "Hot Bench" at 2pm and a double-run of "Judy Justice" at 3pm. "Bob Hearts Abishola" will air at 5pm in the station's late-afternoon sitcom block, alongside "The Neighborhood", "Young Sheldon", and "The Big Bang Theory". "Modern Family", which had aired on both of the Fox-owned stations in the Space City ever since the show was first sold to local syndication in 2013, moves to 39, airing a double-run at 11:00pm. "The Connors" replaces one of "The Goldbergs" reruns at 2:30am, followed by another run of "Young Sheldon" at 3am and "Friends" at 3:30am.

  8. I was more so thinking CNN International Newsroom. Same thing with CNBC, I've always wondered why they don't just simulcast CNBC World in the overnight and evenings rather than random reality shows and American Greed reruns.

  9. Anyone fancy Amanpour, First Move, or Quest Means Business on the main schedule? Also, if I can expand a little bit on This Morning, I feel CNN needs to find a balance, hard news with a warm, welcoming feel. First, get rid of the panels, save that for "Inside Politics". Second, to address the warm and inviting part, let Kasie get loose some! Let her move around, personalize her sign on/sign off, heck, get her a couch like on the ATL set. I'm not saying she has to go full Robin but anything would be more welcoming than her current, cold, robotic tone, no fault to her, she's just going by the teleprompter! Story wise, TUNE DOWN THE POLITICS! Obviously if there is a breaking political story from overnight, then do that but if it's not breaking, viewers who are waking up early to catch the bus or drive to the big city to get to the job site don't want that, so don't give me two hours non-stop on what some politician said! In addition to the top stories and politics, make international stories part of the main news line up, and not a little "around the world in a minute" second or something. In July, the UK, a major US ally had a major election which resulted in a new party in power in a decade and how much attention CNN gave it domestically was just sad. Health stories, sports, and feel good stories are all good, and encouraged. Also, if we have to have a roundup segment, why not a local watch, short stories from CNN's partner stations from various sectors of the country. Do all of that, or even just some, and ladies and gentlemen, you'd have a decent morning newscast!

  10. By comparison, is WABC's 10 AM newscast doing that much better than WCBS's 9AM? Cindy Hsu's noon debut! Glad to see her get this position. It also works out well because Chris & Mary probably come around 3:30AM, so having them alternate staying to/past 12:30 PM is a lot.

  11. KTXA is acquiring Tamron Hall (sister station KTVT aired the show’s first season) from KDAF September 2nd at 8am, after the KTVT-produced 7am newscast. It was previously slotted by 48 Hours.

  12. I can't imagine there is much of an audience for hardcore political chat at 5 in the morning. Perhaps the audience they are aiming for is affluent enough to make up for its small size? I suppose it's excusable right now as it's an election year... but after the inauguration? I can see another reshuffle happening at some point after that. Wolf is apparently retiring then (according to Puck, anyway). I'd like to see CNNI get more love. I don't understand why the management are so obsessed with propping up the domestic channel, its ratings dwindling by the day, when they have another channel out there which reaches 400 million viewers, and is available in nearly every hotel room on the planet. It should be the dominant world news channel... but instead we get lumbered with endless domestic simulcasts (I'm sorry but the world does not need 2 hours of DC insider gossip each day) and dire sponsored shows like Inside Africa. No wonder so many CNNI people have left... the whole channel is such a missed opportunity.

  13. Absolutely correct. The main floor director for World News Tonight is often posting BTS shots of the person that'll hold fort at the desk when Muir or whoever is in the field. It's frequently either Nightline co-anchor or some correspondent, but the chair is warm.

  14. For events like this, almost every station and network that's more than one person and a camera is paying to have their own bandwidth for communication in/out of the United Center. Whether it is hardwired phone lines or some IP solution for IFB/headset. And the cost is not small. This has happened before for Fox stations in cities where the DNC is hosted. It's not because of the normal people attending the convention. It's because of the protesters who don't understand the difference between Fox Local and FNC Prime.

  15. Very gray, very poorly lit, very little depth or texture. It’s definitely a new set!
