  1. I know he won't listen to this, but Allen... SELL NOW. Its obvious AMG can't manage anything for shit. At this point, anyone is better than them.

  2. If all of the meteorologists at Allen stations are history, a boneheaded move will be if it goes down at WTVA. Not only is it an established station in a place known for severe weather, but is in Mississippi State's backyard, where MANY meteorologists get their degrees from. Allen better have a good plan for their chief Meteorologist (Matt Laubhan) since he's very well regarded (and almost like a James Spann Jr. even down to the suspenders!) or this station is toast.

  3. Could Allen become the first company to ever have its stations seized or shut down involuntarily by creditors? That's what it seems like where things are heading... I think it's happened in select cases but never on a grand scale like this.

  4. And sell piecemeal! If a buyer only wants a small handful of stations, take the deal. You'll be that much closer to done. (He's not reading this, is he?)

  5. I guess so... I'm just surprised that they didn't have him retire in his usual timeslot... just would have seemed fitting.

  6. I’ve always thought they had a cramped set/studio. Would love to see how they remake the new designs. the temp set isn’t that bad either.

  7. Look to the Equity bankruptcy and WLNE circa Great Recession for a little insight; they didn't shut down right away, but just let unpaid expenses and payroll claims escalate to such a dangerous level they start losing programming outside the network, then staff who are tired of them, and eventually it gets to actual satellite transmission, then IP, newswires, then the network finally gets to the point of revocation and then you're down to a sky cam shot until THAT contract gets revoked too. Allen at least has fallbacks, but viewers will NOT be happy to see 15 year-old car, pet and media junket shows in prime time.

  8. I heard KTLA's chopper reporter mention a few times they were flying at 8000+ feet. I suspect they are a ways out and also up above all the fire activity.

  9. The temporary set looks better when the main anchor shot is kept at a close frame. Wide makes it look like they're in a closet.

  10. So when severe weather strikes, will we get coverage or will we get reruns of Storm Stories?

  11. Finally! Their current set is way past outdated. It's the worst of the Fox O&Os

  12. Santiago Peak (5,689 Feet) in Orange County, directly southeast of Mt. Wilson (5,713 feet). Santiago is also far more centralized than Mt. Wilson to the DMA.

  13. This is the final straw for me. I've officially lost all respect for Allen. I hope they sell soon because Allen has no place in broadcasting.

  14. He should've stayed producing those shows that you see at 2am on various channels

  15. Today is the last day for TEGNA's creative services and marketing departments. All are being laid off in favor of centralized creative services. I saw an example of the new TEGNA creative services AI-driven TV ads...and wow, it's not good. I'm sure it's cheap, and that's what matters to the bottom line, but wow it's bad.

  16. Allen Media is letting go ALL local meteorologists at ALL stations and looks to hub local weather forecasts out of the Weather Channel in Atlanta.

  17. Ah yes. Danner, who appears on NewsNation frequently - that bastion of unbiased news, gets away with posting crap like this.
