  1. They didn’t dump the noon Sunday show. Im currently watching it.

  2. They definitely didn’t. After populating the advance schedule with specific infomercials—by name, not just paid programming — for multiple weeks, it reverted back. Good for them.

  3. “Replacing” or “in for” cause there’s a big difference. Who knows maybe we’ll see someone we least expect. Again, I thought they said Mike officially takes over on Tuesday, we may see him tomorrow morning, who knows if an official decision is even made but if it is I guess we’ll find out.

  4. No. See above. They’ve removed him from the morning promos already.

  5. End of an era. Grew up with Bill and Liz at 6 & 11 with Diana and Sade on After GH & Oprah. It's amazing just how long these anchors last and the rapport they build with the community. I too am surprised Mike is only doing the 11. Bill will be going out very prominently: anchoring at 5 and 6 as opposed to just 6 which is what a-lot of almost retired senior anchors do.

  6. True. We always have to strike a balance between being critics who have a more acute eye for certain things and assessing what the audience actually cares about. But If the news station dedicated a segment to draw attention to their new set it shows that they want the audience to care about it.

  7. From working in a newsroom, they push you to be innovative and think outside of the box with stories so that we aren't just doing the same thing as the competition. Why doesn't that apply to design standards? The majority of newscasts in this country feature bland video walls with no physical set pieces, and some generic white box design for their lower thirds. Somebody switch it up please.

  8. The set screams BDI with the 2014 era KCNC/KFMB anchor desk

  9. I just noticed this... for WJW's 75th anniversary last year, they have a shop. The coolest is a T-shirt featuring all past WJW general and news-related logos and that's probably THE item to get. https://fox8shop.1stplacespiritwear.com/sites/OH/Cleveland/Fox 8 https://fox8shop.1stplacespiritwear.com/sites/OH/Cleveland/Fox+8/product.html?sku=I7S114683T1206L1D11970&category=Mens

  10. Color me shocked. 2015 has finally rolled around for Nexstar. I just downloaded the Fox 8 CLE+ app. Hell has finally froze over. Looks like it's the major markets that are receiving Roku apps. And yes, they do have live streaming. (And why 2015? Because it seems that Nexstar is a decade behind the times with everything. I bought my first Roku 10 years ago!)

  11. Perhaps… but the folks who gave us “New Coke” went on measurable info too.

  12. It’s also not the way people talk normally. One of the things I remember being endlessly bombarded with in college was the need to make it conversational… well… nobody holds a conversation in active tense about something that happened last week. But I have a couple of simple production issues with WNT too… the tease needs to be 30 seconds with the top 3 or 4 stories and a sentence or two about them. Instead we get an explanation long enough to be its own story about everything they are gonna talk about. It’s dangerously close to being able to watch the tease and shut it off knowing what happened. The other thing that bugs me is they adopted the old music and then the rest of the newscast everything goes to break in silence and they end the newscast in silence. It looks a bit unkempt and thrown together that way. I don’t get it and I don’t think it’s some broader trend in news.
