  3. Is this the same John Gerard who was billed as meteorologist on that one WATE Knoxville TV-6 Live Eyewitness News evening edition from 1986 on YouTube (Kim Simmons filled in for him)?

  4. Yes, but temporarily. Mornings, I believe, but it's because it's yet another Scripps station that can't/refuses to fill vacancies.

  5. It is indeed-- it would also be like if KTRK Eyewitness News in Houston had suddenly changed from "#1 in Texas" to "#1 in Houston" in the 80s (hypothetical of course).

  7. Last Friday's 6 had the full open, before the script change. I really think only the 11 had been shortened, of those two shows.

  10. 40 years on Charlotte television. He joined when it was WPCQ and Odyssey Partners without local news being produced. Now it's WCNC and TEGNA with local news on. Its the anniversary of Larry Sprinkle at WCNC. This so happens to be his final week in the morning as he'll shift to do inspirational stories (since he's a forecaster, not an accredited meteorologist). Chris Mulcahy is taking over his spot. https://youtu.be/wpz5iZvpiBA?si=MYrB5lV_zTyoPr8X

  13. THE gold standard of Chicago journalism and investigations at its finest... Carol Marin. Now, she's getting a call from the Order of Lincoln, the state's highest honor. 17. Lee Peck is now one of the morning anchors at WALA in Mobile. He was an early evening anchor before, and filled in as primary anchor after Byron Day's departure. Eric Reynolds is apparently still at the station, but his whereabouts are unknown. He was a longtime morning anchor at the station, even anchoring with his wife at one time. I'm hearing that it could be health-related, so I send my best wishes to him and his well-being.

  18. More retirement news. Not today, but come Wednesday, April 23rd, Chief Meteorologist John Bernier will have his last day at WRIC-TV after 41 years. Kept a secret since last September, the news was announced today during the 5pm news. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DH4T6gAv3xt/?igsh=YmQxenZoaXI4c282

  20. 57 years at one TV station? It is unheard of now these days in this business. Yet, longtime KARK camera operator Morsie Eagles did just that. Today, he finally retires at The Morsie Eagles Studio (named in 2018) at KARK. https://www.kark.com/news/kark-4-today/kark-4-news-longtime-camera-operator-morsie-eagles-retires/?fbclid=IwY2xjawJX1BhleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHS0eLyTCFzdcloLYtNqauQLYZANUA2F69eToVGruBf2P6KCN2ZX8MbUz7A_aem_9QydHpk2FLzzGMCPCj9e3Q

  31. World News Tonight has made the move. Did we want more? Yes, but it still looks so much better on-air, than the old. No new graphics, thought they finally lowered and widened the banners.

  32. I was ready to doubt you, but yeah, you're right. Such a lateral move. Their stubbornness and not wanting to actually evolve the show's look is very frustrating. Compare to the current set...

  33. Congratulations to Kym on this move! A major win for WBTV and Charlotte and another major loss for WPMI and Mobile. Back in 2008, Lenise Ligon left WBTV and later ended up as the primary anchor at WALA Fox 10 in Mobile, a job she's held since.
