  1. Glad they’re giving people something to obsess over.

  2. Forgive the reasonable explanation, but in a 2025 world of laptops and using internet to send in video, and running with the assumption at least some photogs who live outside of the city have take home vehicles, a new mic flag roll out might take a while, especially in New York. The potential overtime cost or lost productivity of getting everyone to 30 Rock quickly to do a unilateral rollout isn't worth it for how inconsequential a new look microphone flag is to getting the job done. The mic flag as the primary way of reminding viewers of what station they are watching is a dinosaur leftover from the pre always-on station logo bug days.

  3. Since KNXT became KCBS in 1984 they have been Channel 2 News, Channel 2 Action News, CBS 2 News, News Central, back to CBS 2 News, KCAL News and now CBS LA. Yet, the management wonders why the station can't get any traction with viewers. Save for Pat Harvey and Jim Hill, the station has been an also ran. The "We are Yours" tag line is a little silly too. Anyone remember the days of The Station of the People?

  7. Counterpoint... If they start one up with a cheaper host, use studio space they already own in the broadcast center with no audience, no house band- then they show that it was (in part) really because Colbert was losing money. The reality is there that Tonight, Kimmel, and Late Show all have ungodly overheads and declining viewership. Respectfully disagree. If they go longform interview without the monologue or comedy bits, there is possibly a place for it- especially at CBS. Sunday Morning and 60 Minutes have always been their cornerstones and both are more longform. Bonus points if they can take excerpts and repack them for Mornings or 24/7. It would be a good opportunity for a show that throws softballs a la Larry King... People don't want hard news and political lectures late night.

  8. I know what I saw! And why not Ted Greenberg's reports be included? He's reporting for WNBC and therefore properly should show such identification! My point was if Greenberg can use the 4/47 Flag, why can't the local reporters? It's as simple as that!!!!!

  9. I don't live in Milwaukee (although I have some family there), I'm liking the new WDJT look that they're using. I don't honestly get the "anti-channel number" branding sentiment that some of y'all have, but to each their own. I'm still pretty much old-school when it comes to channel numbers, and yes, I'm well-aware of the current adage of the digital TV era and the technical aspects that come with it (RF vs. virtual), but there's still a segment of over-the-air viewers that still use and prefer the "traditional" channel numbers. I subscribe to cable, but I also use over-the-air as a backup of means, so please save your lecturing nonsense...I get it, but I still preferred the old-school method of tuning-in channels, beyond that you're being condensing, but whatever.

  12. Sad news out of the Bay Area. Belva Davis, a pioneering broadcaster, passed away at 92. She was the first black female reporter on the west coast when she joined KPIX in the 60s, and was known for her career at KRON and KQED. A true inspiration for many and a memorable figure in television. https://www.kqed.org/news/11962918/groundbreaking-journalist-belva-davis-dies-at-92
