  1. This is a Karen we can all love... 30 years of Karen Borta at KTVT Fort Worth is today. October 16, 1995 was her debut. I was born 10 days later. Her tenure there is older than me. https://www.cbsnews.com/texas/news/cbs-news-texas-anchor-karen-borta-celebrates-30-years-with-the-station/?fbclid=IwY2xjawNeB41leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHu_imbtDkTRECAzspATgUMqW1JPC3F8a5S_VdN9FypH_SHZeEWB44CTp1a2w_aem_7wzhf4uXqGwnZp1WxWUqFA

  2. Birmingham's "most improved" station, WIAT, is celebrating 60 years on the air... https://www.cbs42.com/video/celebrating-60-years-of-cbs-42/11176687 Given it's tortured history during it's days at WBMG, I'd say they did a good job covering it's past before it was literally "blown up" by Media General as WIAT. New Vision and LIN had some great years when Media General traded up to (tank) WVTM, but it's recovered nicely under Nexstar's ownership to become a fixture in the market. Hearst undid Media General's damage at WVTM, while James Spann 33/40 soldiers on with him still doing the weather despite Sinclair's ownership.

  3. Starting November 1st, BIN, iHeart's Black Information Network, will no longer be exclusive to iHeart. They're syndicating its service to other interested companies. They can either only air its TOH newscasts, run it during certain dayparts, or just air it 24/7. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/313404/iheartmedia-to-syndicate-black-information-network/

  4. This is Cloo (formerly Sleuth) and Syfy (you know) (from the same company even!) all over again.

  5. As of September 29th, the NBC American Crimes diginet is now NBC True CRMZ. Yes, that's exactly how they spell Crimes in their name.

  6. Since KNXT became KCBS in 1984 they have been Channel 2 News, Channel 2 Action News, CBS 2 News, News Central, back to CBS 2 News, KCAL News and now CBS LA. Yet, the management wonders why the station can't get any traction with viewers. Save for Pat Harvey and Jim Hill, the station has been an also ran. The "We are Yours" tag line is a little silly too. Anyone remember the days of The Station of the People?

  8. Probably should've rebranded to this in the first place.

  9. That’s an identity, crisis. Right there. I will say the KCAL branding on KCBS could confuse viewers.

  10. KCBS was already CBS LA. Looks like they’re dropping "KCAL News" and going with CBS LA for both stations.

  11. CNN had team coverage at the top of the hour. Yes, it's a big story, but there's little additional information at the moment other than a social media post from a famously not very credible source. The country (and the world) is on fire right now. CNN can cover multiple stories at once.

  12. It seems that the CBS Evening News is slowly returning to its previous format... The headlines are back at the beginning of the newscast. output.mp4

  13. For those who are in the realm of public media or have an interest in it, I just got some very sad news. One of NPR's founding mothers, the legendary Susan Stamberg, has passed away at the age of 87. She just retired a month ago, was one of the OG employees at the network, and was the first American woman (TV or radio) to anchor a nightly national news program. https://www.npr.org/2025/10/16/1184880448/susan-stamberg-obituary
